Good mornin' everyone,
I stsrted a Green Box Nobler re-kit from R S M Distribution a couple of years ago and due to health problems didn't get it finished.
The question that I'm askin' is can Poly Crilic be put over dope??
The stab and elev have Brodak clear or Sig nitrate on them and I would like to try the Poly Crilic method.
Any help will be appreciated...

Yes it can. Best not try it vice versa, though. Do a search for other posts if you need more information on using polycrylic.

At the stage you are at might as well just shoot or brush on a coat of primer and go to color. If the base coats are already on, what would be the point of using PC?

PC will go over nitrate, not sure of butyrate.

I did a quick test on a sheet of 1/8 balsa. 3 coats of P.C filled the grain very nicely. Then sprayed butyrate coclor over this, it came out really nice. Then masked with frisket paper and shot second color. When I lifted the frisket paper, the butyrate pulled up all the way down to the P/C. Moral? Don't use dope over P/C. I your case I would stick with dope to the end of the job. I would also do a test of P/C over dope and whatever the next steps of your finish you are planning just so you will gain the knowledge of what it will do. Any time you mess with mixing paint types, do a good test first.

Guy's I sure do appreciate the quick responses to my question, as usual this board has good and fast answers..
The only place that dope was used was on the stab and elev the rest is still "under construction"!!
I thought that I would try this method as I am wanting to try Base Coat Clear Coat..
