Fox .15 Needle Valve

Yesterday, I was bench running A Fox .15 which I have recently acquired. This is not a "steel fin", but one with the slant glow plug, and muffler mounting holes placed vertically above and below the exhaust stack.
This engine has an extremely fragile looking needle valve with a "ballpoint pin spring" around it to prevent movement. Is this a stock configuration, and what other type N.V. assy. will work on this engine. I tried a Stunt .35 Assy. which fit perfectly, but I could not get the engine to start. How about a Supertigre valve?

You have the stock one. There is nothing wrong with it. Use it. your motor should run fine.

It does run allright, but I was thinking that a more durable needle would be nice. If this engine proves out, I plan on using it in a Shark .15, and don't want any trouble with a hard to find broken needle valve.

Yeah, I broke the needle valve right off my 15 one day flipping it hard when the motor was acting up. Only NV I ever broke that way.

Fox Manufacturing never wasted anything that they made, so that needle valve is still the one used in the currently manufactured C/L BB 25. It also fits the Fox 07-10 and plain bearing 19/25 that everyone either loves or hates. Dennis

The stock Fox 15 baffle motor nva is not hard to find. Again, use it. It was designed around this motor. Larger ones are inappropriate, size wise.

If you ever need one, just let me know. Fox 15s are almost as common as McCoy 35s, and ditto for parts.

Thanks. After working with this engine a bit, it is really starting to run good, and that needle valve really seems to be a good match for it.

I suspect the 35 NVA must be plugged up. I put a current Fox 35 NVA on my 3-bolt Fox 19 (perfect fit) and it runs perfectly. The engine may not run well on the 35 NVA, but it should darn well RUN.

I'll give it another try. Maybe I just didn'n get it set close enough to start with.

A Fox 35 NVA is the last thing that I'd put into a 15. It's too big and as I see too many people breaking that valve flipping the prop over on a 35 with the closer space of a 15 you are bound to catch it with your finger or stick.I also think that the sprybar diameter is much too big for a Fox 15.
I'm not sure but I think that you can still get the NVA for the OS10/15 and use that or perhaps the assembly for the PAW or MVVS also might work. If possible also look at Enya NVA's I use a lot of those and they are more durable then the OS. The one for the 09/15 should do fine. Dennis

Don: If your .15 is starting to run well, take good care of it. Not all of them run well, sort of like McCoy 35s.

These light little motors (only the Greenhead Torp .15 is lighter, and only just) are wonderful on Ringmaster Jrs, Streak Jrs, Akromasters, etc.

Actually, I plan to use it in a Shark .15. That should be about right shouldn't it?
