I should get my rear exhaust muffler from Mr. Oliver soon for a barstock .61. Has anyone run these yet? I talked to richard at length the other day, and he was kind enough to explain a lot of good things to me. I realy didn't ask him about how the rear muffs are working for people. I'm sure that they have to sound really KEWL. Just looking for some advice from people who are already running them.

Hey Nester, I'm currently flying with a .40RO-JETT REAR EXHAUST it runs great....I'm using 11.5x4 APC my lap time is around 5.2 I going to try 11x4 to see if it will slow down a little.I remember Richard telling me that you can run the engine how ever you like 4/2/2 are turn in the needle and run so it has a soft break he's not joking its pretty cool.This is my first out of the box stunt engine know I know the difference a wonderful piece of work.

Hey, 5.2 sounds great to me. What is your line length? I'll be putting my RJ 40 into a Vector 40.

Line lenght is 60 foot. Heh 5.2 isn't so bad I'm just use to the old OS .40FP ( its in a profile Cardinal) that was in it it was running around a 5.5 are 5.4. The RO-JETT has gobs of power.I put mine in a Bucanneer 740 I will be posting pics soon.I built a Vector from scratch last year great airplane mine came out 41OZ I had a .40FP in it also the wind really blew it around. I would like to build the Brodak kit is yours from a kit? How about some pics of it?

I am building the Brodak kit. It will be a month or so before it's ready for public viewing. I'm slow and I have another project in front of it (Time Machine). I'll dig out the digital camera and start posting some photos soon.

I used to shake my head in wonder when someone would turn 5.0, 5.1 laps. I started with 5.4 and 5.5, then discovered I had better rhythm with the faster laps, too. Now some of the guys are flying the smaller profiles (ie. Twister) at 4.9 (61.5 foot lines). The feeling is the smaller wing area needs the speed. Your Cardinal has a much bigger wing than the usual profile, so it can fly at regular speeds.

Wow, 41 ounces for a Vector. I wish. I expect mine to be 43 - 45. (Who am I kidding? I would be happy if it's under 48!)

Yea, that's a little more realistic - especially for a span and dope finish done to the Nth degree! I'll bet it will look really good!

I used 4to6# wood on everything and lite plywood for the formers.The plane was done in all Brodak dope and buffed out it was as shiney as a new car and as smoth as a babies butt.Her is a pic of it.

Very nice. And about 10 ounces lighter than mine! Evan at 50 ounces, a .46 LA pulls it around with ease.

A Bill Lee 3 Blade works very well on my RO Jett 40.
The 11" dia- 4 pitch works well.
Compaired to the 11.5-4 Bolly , it seemed to slow it down slightly,
but exibited good line tension and seemed to me to turn better.
My first experience with a 3 blade.Very satisfactory.
Be sure it is well balanced,the smoothness is worth the effort.

Could you please share the method used to secure the rear muffler in place on the model?

What type of materials are used to absorb or dissapate the heat generated off the muffler during use?

Quite curious about all the techniques used around the country

Hi Luck, As I am the one that sells these let me answer. There is not mounting and the header/muffler is air cooled just like you would a tuned pipe. Air in the front and out behind the muffler. Here are some pics to show the set up.
