Old Stunt patterns

I was reading a September 1947 Model Airplane News last night and came across an article titled: "West Coast Tips" where it describes a contest and a pattern flown by four finalists. It starts out like the present OTS pattern until it gets to 3 horizontal eights. It then goes to:Inverted ballon busting-1 pass. Upright ballon busting-1 pass. Then the regular pattern again until after the overhead eights where it goes into "Pair of spectacles". What in the heck was that and can someone describe it? I'm 60 and have never heard of it.
Later in the article is describes the pattern for the "Contest rules for Aerobatic events So. California Model Congress". I guess this was before WAM. This pattern was similar to the OTS pattern we now use, but the sequence is closer to the present AMA pattern. It has a place for "special Manuevers" after the mandatory pattern and just before the landing part. Very interesting and all planes were ignition and few had airfoils that were for "stunt" as we know them today (no symetrical foils). Ty M>

After thinking about it and trying to picture "eye glasses" I think the pattern went like this, but this is only a guess on my part. Enter pattern at 5 foot altitude, climb vertical to 60 degrees, level off and enter outside loop, recover at 60 degrees and fly level for 1/4 circuit and enter sencond outside loop, recover at 60 degrees altitude, fly level and dive to five feet and level off. That would look like a pair of spectacles, but is it the one they did in the "olden dayes". Curious olde men want to know. The vertical climb and dive would be the ear pieces, the loops the lenses. ??
