Was wondering what your favorite ENYA might be? I like the 5224 29's and 35's and the 6001 45's.

My Enya .15 III from my childhood days. It was my first "grown-up" engine. I still have it. The darn things never wear out! I also had a Enya .35 with the black venturi that did great service for me in many profiles when I was coming up. I am seriously considering a couple of the new Enya 50SS Ring control line engines. I gave Designman an Enya .09 control line engine as a gift and I was going to get the last one in the United States for myself but, someone got it before I did.

My favourite is the Enya 45 6001 which was my first "big" stunt engine after the Merco 35. Back in those days I was right at the beginning of the learning curve so I didn't understand the significance when the ST 46 guys would ask me how I got it to run as well as their engines. I'd simply tell them I was using a straight 3:1 fuel (all castor). Every year or so I'd strip it down to clean out the carbon then give it one or two flights to settle the rings and blissfully keep on flying

I tried the 6002 version later but it was timed for RC work so it gathered dust from then on.

An old 5224 35 with the square black venturi and low compression head. Still have it and it runs just as good as it did 30 years ago.

My favorites are the 5224 enya .35 and .29's
and the .19. All run very well and its true
you can't wear them out.
I run all mine on 5% nitro 25% castor.
I also have been recently running the
Ss .25 and the SS. 40 , I would also
like to try the .50 next.

Like the .09-II with the exhaust on the left side, puts it on the outside of the circle when inverted. My favorite has to be the 15-III, has been through many planes and as Jim Z and Proparc say you can't wear it out especially if you run 23%+ castor oil. Flying over dirt not sure they can be killed as mine has hit the ground numerous times sometimes going several inches into the ground.

So many choices that it's hard to decide. Enya 60MK3 and 60XLF4 used extensively in RC.
Used most of the vintage Enya's and have managed to collect almost an example of all of them.
Probably like most other users, the 5224/5 29/35 plain bushing and 4002/6 Enya 19 had a lot of time on all of those.
I also flew the small rarely imported 1/2A motors and while they were fun they were terribly anemic, still have them too.
I also agree with everyone that there is no such thing as a worn out Enya, best bang for the buck IMHO.
I have the new C/L motors and they are the R/C motors converted. The 50SS is a really smooth runner so you should be happy with it. Look at the positives, no remote NVA,no plastic backplate, and bulletproof construction, parts are readily available, and no blue paint. With all it's advantages all you will hear is that it is an ounce heavier then xx motor.
It's a shame that they introduced the newer models and took a chance that there would be a market for them, and To their discredit thay do a terrible job of getting any information out about them. That said I hope that enough people will buy one to keep them available. Dennis

My sentiments exactly. It appears as if MRC is not serious about promoting the new CL motors in any way. I am extremely curious about the 50SS Ring, but you are the first person that I have heard anything about them. My plan is to simply purchase on the strength of Enya's reputation for quality and reliability.

Dennis;

Do you have any setup info on this new engine?

Bob, I haven't flown the motor yet. But I have about an hour on the bench with it. From the first start it has been smooth and exhibited good handling traits. The venturi is necked down with a brass insert to about .280<9/32> haven't bothered computing the area of the venturi with the spraybar in it. Probably a little small for a motor this size.
I don't have a plane large enough for this motor yet and an irritating neck injury makes large planes painful to fly so I hope to be able to get one up and running this year.
Interestingly I just checked a NIB Enya 60 #7033 and that venturi is .286, if I had a scientific personality I'd run the 2 of them and do a comparison. Dennis

Of the Enya engines I've used (5524 .35 round and square intakes, .15-III, et al.), my favorite, and, indeed, one of only three Enyas I have left, is the .19-IV. I have used it propped with the old TF 9×6 to power full sized Ringmasters and Flite Streaks with great success. It has more than enough power and its lower fuel consumption means that the space left for the tank on those designs is more than adequate. Even though I tried, with my (at that time) more limited knowledge of light building techniques, to keep the tail light, I did have to add a bit of nose weight to get the CG to the point that the planes wern't too sensitive for my taste.

If I were to have an ARF Flite Streak, I wouldn't hesitate to use this engine.

I have heard others recommend the Veco .19 as power for the smaller .35 stunt ships and I believe that, if built lightly enough, the Enya .19 would serve well, too.

Now.............just where did I hide that Jetco Dolphin kit?

OS: A Ringmaster has enough room for a 4 ounce wedge.

It is the Streak that is tank challenged. Currell

Hello all!
Since we are all talking about Enya motors I was wondering where I can get some parts for an old 5224 Enya .29 with the square black venturi? I need a new head and needle/spray bar assembly. Is there anything else I need like head gaskets/shims? I would like to use it on my soon-to-arive ARF Nobler.

Olive U keep fly'n,

Send me your mailing address and I will send you free all the Enya parts I have. Not much, but there are some gaskets and needle valve assy's, and other parts. May be something in there for your engines. Ty [email protected]

My fave was the 5224 .35; it was a great slow combat motor in the 70's. Did anybody ever try one with a pacifier or bladder?

Has to be an Enya 15D Mk11, when in a 36.5 inch span Peacemaker it made a wonderfull combination. I only have one 15D Mk11 left now minus a spraybar, if I could find one I`d build another Peacemaker or two or three. Last flight was 40 years ago.

Darn near any ENYA 15 spraybar should fit that diesel good enough to run that engine just fine.
