Looking for a color photo of Stilleto 35

Does anyone have a color photo of Les MacDonald's 35 sized Stilleto? I would like to be able to reproduce the same color scheme on mine.

I believe his were dark blue and white or black and white. What color??

I've seen the black and white photos. Based on those, his plane was painted in balack and white.

I would like to be able to finish it to same color as it was originally. If I could get my hands on on a color copy, it would be greatly appreciated!

I don't have a photo of the Stilleto but I live in Muncie and the AMA museum has one of Les McDonalds Stilleto's on display. The model on display is one of the larger versions and the paint job is black and white with red trim. If you would like I would be happy to take a picture of the model and send it to you. Just let me know.

Other stunters on display at the museum that come to mind if anyone needs photos..........

I plan to be in Muncie for WC so I plan to take lots of pictures of that 660!

All of them were white with red and blue trim, although the blue is very dark. The blue was mixed using Aerogloss Corsair Blue and Jet Black. The later ones in the series had more detailing and he added a few more colors with the standard white w/red & blue. If you see a fourth color in a B&W photo, it could be silver or gold. The I-beam 660 had silver and metalic blue accents to go with the his standard colors.

I have several photos of Les' airplanes. The oldest is ( if my memory serves me right ) from the world champs at Utrecht, Netherlands, in 1976.

I'm really stretching the limits of my memory here, but I remember Les's Stiletto 35 from the 71 or 72 KOI when it was held at Imeson.I recall that the base color was a light cream with dark brown trim. Very similar to the one in Claus's picture. I have some pictures I snapped somewhere, but I haven't been able to find them yet. Still looking...

The light tan one was a Tropicair. It was tan w/red and chocolate trim. It used a Novi wing and a Formula S fuse.

Great pictures!

The brown model at Winston-Salem in 78 was entered by Vince Schneltzer. Les McDonald and Vince were both from Miami. (Based on a photograph from Oct 78 Model Airplane News.) Vince showed up at several contest well finished models.

Again, it's not the Stilleto 35 .... but here's Les McDonald's Stilleto from the 1984 World Championships.

I'll try to get a picture of the "Stilleto 700" converted to digital format ... right now, I only have slides of it.

I may be wrong, and have been many times, but I thought the 700 version was a foam wing bird. The one shown here is still the "I-beam" look. Thought perhaps the 700 was also lighter in trim colors. Just some thoughts.

The Stilleto 700 was the one LES flew at the 1975 Lake Charles NATs. I was there flying with him.
He crashed it at that NATs (and He and BOB Gieseke duked it out for the win with both of them flying rebuilt planes) and I do not believe he ever built another one.
The 700 was not an I beam
The Cream and brown Stilleto may have been the ones of Remel Cooper.
Most every one of Les's plane I saw were all Dark Blue , White base,red and sometimes minor gold or silver trim.

The 700 was definatly Foam and was much bigger than any Stilleto Les had. It made the 660 look small. If I recall correct. it had a ST 46 for power

Wow! I just want to thank everyone for offering some insight into differnet models. This is exactly the kind of info I was looking to get.

Just a thought. The brown version might be one by Stan Powell. He often flew with Les and is capable of such a fine finish. He won best appearing stunter at the 82 Nats in Lincoln with his white, green and gold Dove. The Dove was a version of the Stilleto.

I heard that there is only 3 20 pointer planes in the history of this sport. All I know is Windy's Cardinal but I have no idea about the others. Who where the pilots? What where the planes? What years was it? Got pictures?

I'm not sure, but believe that Ski Dombrowski achieved 20 with his "Lacemaker"? Windy has two or three.... a Cardinal that rated 20 was flown into Doug Bennedetti's All American (Windy was in the wrong place) and rebuilt and painted "gone green", or mayhaps Kawasaki green? It's been through about twenty hands since (always loaned, btw) and I saw it up your way last year.

Windy only has one twenty point plane, and I don't know why.
The '89 Cardinal, before it was repainted Kawasaki Green.

Oh yeah! I saw on one of your tapes: Lenny had it. Last season he flew Legacy so I never got a chance to see the Cardinal. I wonder if he still has it...

They have all been pictured in Stunt News either on the cover or
a color picture inside. These pictures were done in about 1999 through 2001 or early 2002. In fact every concourse winner since
the beginning of the concourse was included.

Here are two pictures I took of Remel Cooper's Stelleto 35 I took them at Jacksonville in 1982-83. Remel did not fly again for many years and I never saw the plane again. This was the first controline contest I had flown in over 25 years and I won beginner with a All American Sr.
