For a lengthy time the forum was stuck on 650 topics. This coincided with a crash we had earlier and I thought it was connected. Then the total number of posts locked up at 6060. Whenever someone posted beyond that it would count backwards. I checked with the author of the software who told me to check a file (that was working fine).
I just now discovered on my own that I had set the forum for a maximum in both the number of posts for each forum (not realy knowing what this would do) plus a maximum posts per board which sets the point where it archives the old postings. Well, that is what messed it up.
So I set the maximum postings at 10,000 (go ahead, see if you can reach that number, guys) and I think the numbers will start to add up again. Unfortunately, we may have lost a few back issues out of the archives and the total number of postings is really several hundred more than listed.
Ah well. It is all old "dummy me"'s fault.
