I have been getting a lot of emails regarding my videos clips of the pattern on my web site: www.aeromaniacs.com

I appologize to those that are having trouble dounloading these clips, because not all of them are available at this time. I do not have the disk space.

From time to time I will put new clips under Video of the Month, so download them when you can.

My new clip will be in the new Microsoft WMV format which requires Media Player Series 9. It requires a little faster PC because these clips are very high res (640 X 480 at 1 Mbps) A 1 minute video at this resolution will be about 8MB.

This months download is: http://www.aeromaniacs.com/nwstuntshorts.wmv

The clip features Paul Walker's P51 Mustang,Ted Fancher flying an Oriental and Dirty Dan, Paul Walker and Brett work on their models, at last year NW Regionals.

Here is a few more for you viewing pleasure:

http://aeromaniacs.com/PhilBrett.wmv
http://aeromaniacs.com/WackyPlatter.wmv

Added a few more scenes to nwstuntshorts.wmv

Tony,
yes it must be you, it worked fine for me.......
Have you got the latest Windows Media Player ?
Well worth downloading.

Thanks for the video, I accept it as a Christmas present in the manner in which it is offered, and a Merry Christmas to you and yours, and the same to every-one else here.

No Tony, it's not you. I can't play .wmv files either. The problem is that we are modellers and not computer buffs. I simply can't afford to rush out and replace/upgrade a perfectly good computer because Bill Gates needs a bigger bank balance.

This is Paul Walker's NATS winning design "Miss America" P-51 Mustang. Saito .72 powered. I call it a PW-51...dunno if he likes that or not, should ask. Windy Urtnowski sells plans for the #1 version of this plane, this picture is probably the #2, which has a shorter nose. Windy's plans (actually done in England) do not show any of the take-apart features (2 piece wing, stab, fin, rudder, flaps and elevators, plus LG all come off for transport by airliner).

OK, that's pretty cool. Paul's 4 Stroke just sounds so great.

I played it on MPlayer. Worked great.

For those of you who are having a difficult time viewing the file, you probably just need an updated media player. They are FREE downloads from Microsoft. Just go to Microsoft.com and click on downloads. Download the latest version of the media player and you’ll be good to go. It’s easy as that, and again it’s FREE!

Very cool stuff!

My gosh, the excellence of Paul Walker's flying is so obvious. And the way that engine runs! What a ship, what an engine, and what a flyer.

Wow, those are cool! My favorite is the one with Phil and Brett - they are two real cool dudes, and that video short is (IMHO) very close to an ideal way to showcase C/L. Great work!

Wish I could see them! Can't they just be posted in a standard format - like Quicktime, instead of the MS "incompatible format of the month"?

Oh! I forgot, you are one of those MAC people. What format can you read. I know Mac is standardize on QuickTime, but I do not have the Quicktime encoder software. I will try AVI, but it is not compress and take up a lot of disk space.

That works for these, but the installer wipes out previous versions of WMP, and now it won't play older formats, at least on mine. Don't spend any time worrying about it - someone will come up with a Quicktime plugin that plays the new Windows Media Virus, uh, I mean Video format soon enough. Then I'll import it into iMovie and save it as .MOV.

BTW, my outside square looks pretty good! Must have been an accident...

Quicktime is hardly "standard". I guess if we want something totally independent of Apple or Microsoft we'd need .mpg or .mov files. (Not .mov please!! If there's something I hate more than the Quicktime Player, it's the RealMedia player...)..

Egads - someone added titles to the clips (the Stunt one is different than it was a few days ago). Don't show the Platter clip to the kids before you watch it yourself...

Movie files (.MOV to crude, extension-based computers) are the Quicktime standard. RealAudio/RealOne is indeed the lowest to of the low - these have extensions like .RA. .RV, .RAM, etc.

My mistake. After all these years, after avoiding using it, I finally do have a Quicktime viewer installed on my PC, and I must admit, this one is actually stable and works.

Didn't Apple dump the resource fork based filesystem a while back and now uses a Unix type filesystem? If so, it, too, uses extensions, but, like Windows, hides them from the casual user. If not, it'd be interesting to see what the filesystem looks like when you type "ls" in a shell window. Unix has used extensions for donkeys years, even on the NeXT.

Resource fork was a good idea, but it didn't play well with other peoples' networking. NFS-based file servers had to store two files to represent one file stored using an Apple.

When did Quicktime become a standard format? I always thought .mpg was the most common. Certainly every video player can play it.

Not a big deal either way. I have a problem with some .wmv formats, usually those that are created for only Windows Media Player 9. I can even play those with some simple workarounds. But other than that, bring it on: .avi, standard .wmv, .vob, .vcd, .mpg1-2-3-4-4a, .par, .mp4, .mov , DivX, whatever.

Randy Powell

Edit: RealOne is .rm, and I agree, it's mostly junk. Personally, I like DivX

Recently, I've had to deal with .ogm files, and there are two or three others out there now, too, that offer goodies such as choosable subtitles and audio tracks.

Nice thing about Windows Media Player is that it'll play just about anything, once you have the various codecs and ancillary software installed. .ogms were the most complicated thing I've had to deal with so far. Most stuff comes as .avi, but you do have the codec problem. Nice thing is that most codecs are simple downloads and installs, work on multiple platforms, and most are freeware/open source.

That was Scott (gotta get a cool middle name) Riese, performing the daring "Oregon Death Dive" with his 20 lb+ Bi-Slob. Too bad about the racing sounds in the background. You should have come on down to the D-Bat area...very cool, much more fun. Steve

PS: I guess that the airplanes stop in midair because my computer is too slow...AGAIN!? DANG!

Hi Heman!

Am I missing something - I can't see any Bislob action in any of the movies?

I found some more room and put the Bi-slob clib back.
Check the original post again!
Video clip will give you an idea of what a Bi-slob can do.

Actually just found out, I could not Edit the original post any longer, so it is:

It's a light(usually Fox 35) powered 600 Sq In wing area bipe with extreme engine offset that can perform all sorts of goofy floppy , tight turning stunts and hovering manuevers. This one belongs to Tulsa Gluedobber Joe Gilbert.

The Bi-Slob is a homely little biplane designed to do trick flying. This is not to be confused with Precision Aerobatics flying. They are different. The red/gold one is the Brodak kit prototype. The gaggle of 'Slobs belongs to our very own Scott Riece. The big one has a Super Tigre .60. FYI, "Tigre" is the correct (Italian) spelling, JICYWTK. Steve
