B-Y&O props.

While I cannot remember where I saw it, within the past two months there was mention of the tooling for Brodak-produced B-Y&O props having been tweaked. Or updated. Or changed. I dunno...

What I do know is this is the time of year when I warily look over my increasingly small stash of what we call Real-deal Y&O props (made by Clarence Bull's own hand) and begin considering alternatives.

So. Are there new B-Y&O props out there? Do they work properly? Or are they still the best $5.00 kit props available?

The last Brodak BY&Os I got ( this last summer) had the brodak logo printed in black.

They are still in the bag here, and will need a lot of work to get the leading and trailing edges even from blade to blade. One side is down-right square on both the LE & TE the other nicely airfoil shaped.

I have not check the pitch, But will before deciding to put work into them.

I called and was told that the Black labels were the new props......????

I sent a tank back that was abysmal!! Tubes pinched closed at the bends, no square bends in the wedge, and it looked to be buffed with
a wire brush on a pedistal grinder...very sad! Recomended they scrap it and look into some quality issues.

That's my input!.....it will be interesting to hear from others.

FYI, I've been doing some R&D for RSM on different props that he has had made for the Fox (10X5 and 10X6). He is currently having a guy build a few pro-types somewhere out of the US. If all works out they will be Carbon Fiber weighing about 15 grams and costing around 7 or 8 bucks, they could be as low as 6 bucks.

On the matter of props for the Fox. TCI used to sell a prop that looked very much like the old Top Flite props of the 50's. It was very well made and balanced and was yellow in color and called appropriately the 'yellow fever.
I bought a few of them they only came in 10/6 and 11/6 and in truth I thought that they really did make my Fox run quite well. At $4.25 they wen't cheap but I really didn't think that they were overpriced for what you got.Did anyone else use them and what was the concensus
I'd dearly love to see some c/f props at a reasonable price, a 10/5 fits a lot of motors. Dennis

Scott, where have you been. Andy Nehering does not have cancer, never did. He swindled a lot of people who invested from 2k on up to 35K in his business took the money and skedaddled. Last I heard he was in Florida Oh and in case you think that I'm repeating rumors He got me for a few bucks, but I knew up front that it was an unsecured risk.No he didn't go broke either

The CF props GMA sold were made by Stu Sherlock in Australia. In theory, they should still be available. I have a URL, and will try to find and post it tomorrow. Have you tried Master Airscrew wood 10-5? They are pretty nice, and the sample I checked had constant 5" pitch. Steve (near as I can tell with bad eyes) Helmick
