P-51’s are my favorite aircraft. Dose anyone have a plan for a 1/2a profile P-51 they can part with or better yet make me a copy? Or if one of you CAD heads have one filed away.

I remember building a neat all sheet profle P51 that was published somewhere in the early 60s. It was designed for .074 -.09 engines if memory serves ne correct and I used the OS pet .09 on mine.

Does nayone remember this one? I probably have the magazine and would scan the plan 4 U if someone could point me in the right direction. The plan was full size in the magazine.

I think I have plans for the Walt Musciano Scientific kit offering. Pretty basic, though. Currell

The last time I checked, there are something like 6 different Scientific 1/2A Mustangs. Profiles, Hollow Logs, different spans, some with solid wings, some built up, kit variations within the same kit name, span variations. Even Walt can't keep them straight, and I have asked him about this.

That was in the March 1958 issue of Model Airplane News by Paul E. Del Gatto. It was also introduced as a kit the same month by Enterprise. They touted it as flown with an .074, .099 to .15 engines.
The article was titled, "Baby Mustang" and you can get copies from PAMPA.

Flying Models occasionally publishes one of Dick Sarpoulis' half-A semi-scale birds, most all of which are very decent performers. The P-51 they published two or three years ago flies very well with a Norvel .049. I believe they have an on-line catalog of all the plans that are available.

Or, just take any .35 to .40 profile P-51 you like and scale it down to about 60% to get a 230 sq.in. model. I have Tim Meek's .061 powered scale down of the Midwest profile p-51 and it has great performance at 245 sq.in.

When the scaling ends up between standard wood sizes, go to the next SMALLER wood size. Things get relatively stronger as they get smaller.

Seems that the old Model Builder had a profile 1/2a model of the Mustang that was set up for stunt (built up wing w/symerical airfoil) I built one and flew it a few times. Don't remember the designers name though.. Some one like Jim Thomerson might.
Sorry couldn't give you more info..Oh, the wing was about 30 inches in span if memory serves correctly..

Brodak makes a 1/2a P-51. The 1/2a series seems to perform pretty well, too.
