Up front I will admit that I consider the following to be cheating, in that I have lifted a relatively obscure posting from within a real long thread. That said, here goes:

I am making this a standalone thread for two reasons: Larry has made an amazing offer which benefits individual purchasers and PAMPA, both at the same time.

And as we continue to see his postings pop up frequently here on this site, it's obvious he still has some spare time.

So. Get a Fox 35 which will really work for you, join PAMPA or gift a PAMPA membership to a friend, keep Larry usefully occupied and away from the keyboard.

Remember, he is available now due to back problems and an extended recovery. When he's all well and back to work, we lose access to his spare time.

Oh, yeah. 40LAs and 46LAs, as noted above, are part of the deal as well.

Did you get those parts from Larry yet? How about the modded case that I mentioned to you?

Dan et al. I know some like to poo-poo the Fox 35. I also have had poor luck with Fox engine quality at times in the past.

But I now have a L&J Fox 35 which is an excellent motor. Also, I recently took advantage of the Fox offer to trade in an old Fox junker for a new 35 at a greatly reduced price. I don't remember what I sent them, but it was only good for a fishing sinker. The 35 they sent me was a gem!

Mike Keville has promised to publish a picture of me in the next SN. This picture was taken in 1951 with my Barnstormer and Fox 35. You must realize that in '51, the Fox 35 was new on the market, and so was the Barnstormer. My motor was probably not serial number 1, but pretty close to it.

Given that I am not very impressed with what's available over the counter, how is the "customizing" situation looking? I keep hearing of one-year wait times, etc. That is unsat as well.

A friend is in need of an engine for his Nobler ARF, right now, but cannot decide what to get. Like me, he has no desire for an OS LA, yet is leery of Fox QC. Though that may irritate some, it is a fact. He wouldn't mind paying for a customized engine; nor would I when I'm ready for one. I am very interested in four strokes, but it would seem the weight penalty is too much to deal with. My requests for additional info on this in some other threads went unanswered.

Anyway, can someone 'splain this to me?

As to the "raffle", I don't think an engine is being given away.

Larry is AFAIK the best Fox 35 guy out there. At least with him, Lou Woolard, Randy S., Tom D., Tom L., Leonard, etc., you will get a Fox 35 that will be sure to run right. Larry's engines are balanced superbly, and make a little more power than the usual stock one.

it's kinda like an engine for automobile racing. You definitely "blueprint and balance" those, so doing it to a model engine improves them in all areas.

PAMPA is a special interest group that represents C/L precision aerobatics to the AMA. It also runs "stunt" at the NATS, etc., plus it has the best S.I.G. magazine out there in model airplane world.

So..... join PAMPA, and get an engine from an engine builder!
Oh yeah, RSM sells Larry's Fox 35's ready to go for your buddy with the ARF Nobler. The other builders mentioned usually have reworked Foxes in stock, too.

I sent one of my Fox 35's to Larry last week and will put it in the ARF Nobler I got today! Larry turns stuff around very quickly.

Lets clear up two things here so it doesn’t get turned into something it's not.

(1) This is NOT a RAFFLE, its simple. Join PAMPA and I will rework your Fox 35 or OS LA 40 or 46 for free and ship it back to you free. If you want any add-on parts I.E. ST needle valve assy., Hemi-Head or Stuffer Back plate I will discount these 20%. If you need any replacement parts I.E Piston & Liner, Crankshaft, Case, ECT. I will also give you 20% off on those parts.

(2) I have never taken a year to turn a motor around and RSM www.rsmdistribution.com carries new ones in stock. I try my best to get it back to you within three weeks. I normally can do it in ten to fifteen days unless I have problems with Fox getting parts. As of right now I’m am extreamly low on parts and waiting on Fox.

Bill: I contacted Randy Smith and he’s sending me the parts for your motor. Everything else is reworked.

I had to re-register after the crash, and it would not allow me to use my old screen name (which happens to be my real name).

I can attest to the quick turn around. My engine was back in about 16 days. That's 16 days from OH to AZ to OH. In fact, the engine was back before the check cleared! That's service !!
