I am not sure what this has to do with e-bay (other than to get free advertising) because he is not selling anything. But, obviously, there is a catch. The biggest catch is written in the fine print:

The judges will pick the best model and award the prizes on July 4, 03.

Good luck all you modelers out there who are going to design, build, take pictures of, and get your entry in before the closing date. Oh, and you had better get your entry form early, he says.

BUT WAIT!! I also have a free motor offered for postage only.

Enya 60 model 7032. Has the R/C carb. Missing drive washer, prop washer and nut. Ball bearings are rough, but the rings and compression are OK. Beam mounts have been drilled out, but still enough metal.

This guy has been having some difficulty selling his Scientific clones, and his own designs, somewhat derivative of Scientific.

As you know, I am a big Scientific Hollow Log fan, and I have built a number of them from scratch (ME-109s, Twin Mustang, Thunderbird bipe, Stuntmaster, P-51, etc) and kits (ME-109, Bel Air, etc), and a number of restos. I think he markets his models incorrectly. He advertises the near Scientifics as "non Scientifics", but he really should be emphasizing the "Scientificness" of them. He should say that they essentially are Scientific designs. He can do this, since the desings are Public Domain now. Walt doesn't care, and the Frisoli family (dad was CEO of Scientific) doesn't either. In fact. I think they are rather flattered by this.

I do think his own spinoff designs, which truly are not Scientific designs, are pretty clever. He has a little flapped one, for example, something that Walt never did on the original Scientifics.

Just out of curiosity, I bought a Golden Hawk. It was a lot heavier than I would have done from scratch, but would hold up better under general usage, and with kids. A decent effort.
