CF props for small engines.

I have been using a 11x4 APC prop with Brodak 40 engine with great success in the air. The ground clearance is virtually non-existent though. I have installed taller gear to fix that but now the plane tips over on all but 40 point landings and for me those are rare.

Also, APC's are heavy. They generate a very large dampening effect which decreases the plane maneuverability.

Most of the above problems could be fixed by a smaller, lighter prop. Which brings me to my question:

Does anyone produce CF 3-bladed props for engines .40 and below with pitch other than 6? Am I the only one who can't find them? How about a 10x4 or 10.5x4.5 CF 3-blade?

Tom Lay made this recommendation for a carbon fiber prop for the ST .46:

11x 5 1/2, 3-blade sq.tip., non-undercambered is good for the .46.

There seems to be plenty of ST46 prop choices but virtually none for LA46, Brodak 40's or most other modern .40 size engines. Why is that? Is it just me who can't find them or is this reality of the situation: no CF 3-bladed props for moddern .40 engines(low pitch).

Many folks just purchase larger props, cut 'em down and repitch 'em.

I bought a Prather pitch gauge for exactly that purpose, but have yet to find time to learn it / use it.

Too busy playing with my daughter - but she says she wants to fly next spring!

Tom sells a bunch of props. I don't have the catalog handy, but I'd recommend you email him and ask him what he would recommend and if he has one in stock.
