My New Airplane

This is my newest airplane I call it Alias, since it is some of several different designs with a few original (to me) ideas. It has a 55"wing span and 587 sq/in area. It has a ready to fly weight of 41.4 ozs. The current engine is a Dixon OS 40FP with a Windy 3.5 oz cabon fiber tank. After one brief flight it flies wings level with good line tension. I haven't tried any overheads or the hourglass yet. It does the best squares of any plane I have ever flown. I'm looking forward to better weather for more flights.

I hope the pictures actually post. This is my first attempt.

Thanks. The Gray is a precise mixture of Brodak Silver, with a little bit of Brodak White, with a Pinch of Brodak Candy Apple Blue. I sure hope I never have to match it. It did make the Candy Apple Blue trim turn out slightly Aqua colored. I liked this mistake!!

Are we looking at the left (from behind) wing tip in the photos? Don't see any leadouts. The pictures make it look like it is designed to fly clockwise.
Nose reminds me of the NOVI III by Gierke.

I see the leadouts. They are pretty far forward in the picture.

Just like me, when a photo is posted, I want to see more, so I scan the entire picture looking for more.

“Hey, is that a 1962 Trexler ½A Balloon Wheel in the background? Looks like it’s only half inflated.”

Your attention to detail is amazing. I guess that’s why CL Stunt builders produce some of the most beautiful planes that I have ever seen. I love it.

This looks *very* much like Mike Pratt's Primary Force design except for the flaps and the tail fin. In fact the fuse looks like a near copy of Mikes design.
BTW if you like this design you will love Mikes Primary Force. It flies a real nice pattern of competition quality without flaps. Take a look at

The fuselage does look very close to the Primary Force, but I wonder if the wing is from a SIG Chipmunk wing kit with new tips? I like the trike gear. Do wish Mike would update the address and email address on his website. Gotta wonder how many folks have sent orders and gotten them returned. Brian, give Mikey a nudge? Steve

It also looks a good deal like the Spirit of Saginaw, semi-profile that was published in Flying Models about a hundred years ago. Always liked that plane.

It is actually a trimmed done version of Mikes Force fuselage and a Cardinal wing. I narrowed the profile by an inch of Mikes original Froce published in Stunt News. I shortened the nose by an 1" and lengthened the tha tail the by 1 1/2". Made my own vertical stab and made the trike gear. It flies really good so far and finding the correct balance point has been fun!!! It balanced right on the spar without any additional weights added but is too sensitive to control input. I still only have a couple of flights but it has been a fun experiment so far.
