Fog, slight drizzle, 65 deg. Perfect! Somewhere between 25 and 200 flyers braved the elements today. Mike Mizelle had a tarp which was strung up to block the winds howling through the pavillion so Sandra Lee, Helen McCollum, Rachel Wilson, and Linda Bob wouldn't get their hair mussed up. Served outstanding Sloppy Joes and Cole Slaw. Only one mishap- Dave Ek crunched a foamy profile that will be back in no time. Bill Bischoff of Carrier and Slow Rat fame brought out an original profile Carrier ship that is the answer to the Stunt Trainer needed in the New Guy's arsenal. Foam wing, profile fuse, plastic tank, external controls, aluminum gear. It's the plane that can take the punishment and keep on truckin'. I hope he sells lots of plans and maybe even a kit once he get the thing finalized. Doug showed up briefly to tell of the new arrival-Congratulations, Mom and Dad! Don Hutchins flew the new AT6 profile. Bob G. turned in a couple of patterns as did Godzirra. Two ARF noblers flew- Bill Wilson flew his killer Smoothie. Phil Dunlap, engine builder extraordinaire, flew a Gotcha. Retired to Grandy's for the monthly meeting where the year's calendar was finalized. Returned to the field where Ken Buhn's Trike Original debutted and a Forster 29 was seen to fly a Matt Kania design. John Cox broke in a Brodak 40 that Santa had delivered. Someone brought out three John D'Ottavio designed ships and placed them on the North circle- Jersian, Silencer, and Falcon. No sunshine, but plenty of BlueSkies! Mike Greb pretty well wrapped up this year's edition with a demo of fabricating a wrist pin circlip from a platinum glow plug coil. Fly safe,

Gene Hempel(DMA), Greg Elling, Ronnie Brandon and I(DMA) flew today south of Austin. Cloudy, in the 60's, light wind in the morning, calm in the afternoon. After several flights, Ronnie rekitted a Ringmaster while learning to do outside loops, Gene and Greg put up a number of flights on various airplanes. I flew a half dozen flights on my Easy with Tower 40 glow. Three flights on the Aldrich petal blade 11 x 5 carbon prop, and three on an 11 x 5 APC. I'm gonna have to order some more of the petal blades. On the same needle setting lap times were @ a second faster with the APC and not near as much grunt in the maneuvers. May try an APC 11 x 4.
