Has anyone used the LA46 in a plane the size of a Sig Magnum. The plane seems to run from around 55ozs and up in weight and I know it would at least have to be on the lighter side to work. I'm getting ready to build the engine mounts for mine and was curious.
Dave Heintzman has campaigned a Magnum LA-46 for a couple of years, I would see him with it at Brodaks. It worked pretty good, Dave's plane was pretty light, and while the Magnums I've seen with Tigre 51s flew a bit better, the LA-46 was not too bad at all. So I know it can be done, and competitively, at least in Advanced. As you said, just keep it light.

Yes I used the LA.46 in my Magnum, weighed 55oz less fuel. Had a slightly tuned up zinger 12x5 prop, Big Art tube muffler. Burned a full 5oz of fuel to do the pattern. Had to limit the line length to 63' or 64' eye to eye. Could probably get out on some longer lines if I tried some higher performance propellers.
