Ok for all you Humongus flyers ,where is the balance point for the RSM plane ? this is for a friend who is building one.

Mine flies fine at the 25% point of the chord.I'm considering moving it back,possibly as far as 30%.As the ads say,"your results may vary".

I balanced mine at 15% and it flew to suit me. I added a bunch of nose weight. As said, your results may vary.

I flew mine with two different engines, and the CG changed a lot, from too noseheavy to too tailheavy. It's a bit too busted up now to check the CG accurately, but I can inspect a lot of other stuff really easy. 
Looks like 2.0" to 2.25" aft of the LE will be safe. They tend to come out tailheavy, so beware of that. Power should be an OS .46LA or more. Steve

Hi there I have two Humongouses or humonguy??? they each fly very well indeed. One has an fp40 the other an LA 46 .They each balance at 2 3/8 " back of the leading edge. the only trouble with using other peoples measurements is the variation in preferred feel and line length etc . Also mine are only 33 and 34 ounces in flying trim.I enjoy the LA 46 one much more because of the engine sound. It reminds me of a Harley Davidson . Keith Varley

Wow Keith, that's incredible 33 and 34 oz for a 650 SQ IN model with a 9.2oz motor. I'm impressed, the Humongous is a big plane for an Old Time design. The one that I saw Ted Snow fly that got me so hooked on CL was 37oz with a Fox 35. Ted would fly it inverted lap after lap with the tail 6 inches of the ground.
Mine Balances 2.5" behind the leading edge.
