Plasticizer?

I realize this question has been asked before, but I am asking again. Do I need to add plasticizer to Brodak buterate dope? I learned a bitter lesson on my Pathfinder, by using Aerogloss, without plasticizer. Heck, I didn't even know at the time that there was such a thing as plasticizer. It has cracked and crazed so severely that it has split completely through in places. As my wife says, you don't learn anything by getting kicked in the head by a mule twice, so I don't intend to make that mistake again.

First off Aero Gloss is not true dope. Acrylic?? I understand that Brodaks is closer to the real thing and I will not use Aero Gloss ever again. It cracked and glazed on me three years ago. I have added a plasticizer to some Brodaks, but was just fooling around. It did make the finish appear to be more shinney ( this is a word?). It had more gloss to it. There. I bought the additive from either Tom Dixon or Randy Smith.
I have heard of using one or two drops of castor oil in a pint of dope, but have never tried it.

You can probably add a drop or two "just to be sure" if you want, but we have been using Brodak dope ever since it came out and have had no problems with it. It is quite flexible, in itself, and not brittle at all. And the planes, over the years, have shown no ill effects from age (other than some clear that turned yellow, but that was a bad batch.)
