I believe that on a side exhaust engine the boost post(s) is(are) opposite the exhaust. Correct? Are the bost ports on a rear exhaust engine directly opposite the exhaust (i.e. on the "front")?
Yup, you got it. On a couple of the Fox models you can rotate the cylinder and associated top case portion to any of four directions (either side, rear, or even front). But doing so makes no difference, the boost port remains as the port opposite the exhaust.

Leonard, the Sportster series from K&B is the same. I rotated a 65 to a rear exhaust for an RC ship, made a muffler and header to fit and it was so quiet you couldn't hear it 8 feet away. Prop was a 13/5 and the muffler was shaped to be the bottom of the airplane. A lot of volume and 2 baffles really slows down the exhaust wave.
Shame that it's a heavy motor for stunt. It's really a verbally abused, under appreciated motor that really got an undeserved reputation, like the LA series in the R/C world
