Just Discovered Something

I tried to edit a post in classified and discovered that I have 3000 minutes to edit a post! So if you change your mind... do it within 50 hours.

Sorry about that. I used to give unlimited time to edit thinking that made sense. However, we have had two former visitors to the forum who each got angry at someone or something and decided that they would not only leave and never come back, but that they would deprive us of all of their "wisdom" as well. They went back and erased everything they had posted before they left. They had even started threads asking questions and getting good answers. However, after erasing their questions, the following answers made no sense. After this happened not once, but twice ("Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...", well, you know the rest) I changed it so people have two days and a couple of hours. That is usually sufficient if someone discovers that he did something stupid (we wouldn't do that, would we?) or needed to add something for clarification. After that, no one gets to go back and erase everything they put up.

Oh, one more thing (you will notice I just did an edit) as the moderator of the forum I can edit or erase anything I want at any time. Kind of like the cop in the police car who pulls you over for speeding--he can, you can't. So if there is something you absolutely need edited after the time limit, just send me an e-mail and I can do it for you.

Above is literally true, although I was momentarily stunned when such was demonstrated to me months ago.

I had been composing a response and contained in said response was a four-letter word which begins with "d." It was a very mild statement, incidentally.

The process was interrupted and so it was maybe 15 minutes before I got back to the terminal. My four-letter word beginning with "d" had morphed into #####.

I thought somebody had messed with my message, and they had, but I assumed it was somebody in the office. "Dave, you're a bible thumper, but why did you feel the need to change my text?"

Dave is his real name, he's a good Christian man, not a thumper of any sort, it was a joke between friends, don't go postal on me you guys.

Anyway, he had not changed anything, although he had been reading through it.

Well, the word I had chosen was just right for the comment I was making. I changed it back. Looked around, was distracted for a moment, there were all those #####s again.

Aha! Took that word directly out of the "allowed usage" file, haven't used it since.

And don't see a problem, by the way. Len's the host, I am a guest, hosts typically have the option of setting the rules, guests have an obligation to follow them.

Actually, Dan, there is an list of banned words that if anyone tries to insert one of these in his post it will turn to #### (No, I didn't say it.) Trouble is, even the best laid plans don't always work correctly this way. Someone by the name of Richard tried to use his nickname and it turned to ####.

Oooops! My mistake. I had in my mind the capability to be omnipresent when it comes to us slackers and retards typing stuff in, a hand from above smiting us as we transgress.

Are you sure you are not watching little black marks build on my screen and yours at the same time?!
