OS 25LA backplate sources

Hi, it's us again,

I noticed Saturday that there were bubbles comimg out of the backplate on the LA25 on Mikey's Flitestreak while engine was running. Seems that $%^&&* plastic backplate is cracked. Yes, it was probably my hamfisted fault, but I have never cracked a metal one. Now what will fit in it's place that is easy to get?

Somebody sez Thunder Tiger 25. Is this the GP or the PRO? And where to get parts? I need a CURRENT source, not who USED to handle them. I would just as soon just order an OS FP25 metal backplate from Tower if I have to mail order anyway. I assume the FP part fits the LA, right? After all there are lots of other things not available at the LHS that I can put on the order, like a 1/4-32 gloplug die (not tap).

Might as well get 2 while I am at it. I gave up on my old 25 baffle engines. Figure if I need parts it's better to have a current production engine. Mikey is probably going to go through a few airplanes and maybe engines learning to fly upside down, etc.

He sez that he prefered the Ringmaster to the ARF Flitestreak but it's sure easier to buy and fly then to build and crash and not fly for awhile. In the best of all possible worlds he would be building his own planes but I would rather see him at the field getting airtime then in the shop. And I would rather be building something I can fly, like a free flight.

Careful now. In order to be an SSF with SSS, ya gotta have both die *and* tap in 1/4-32. And 1/4-28.

I'm hoping we're all on pins and needles waiting to see if cyberdude thinks SSF and SSS are way too much of an inside-joke sort of thing.

The FP back plates do fit the LA. OS parts are more expensive, however, and the Thunder Tiger GP 25 will fit just as well. Does ACE Hobby carry parts for these?

Just read your Bad Boy column. All I need is the 1/4 32 die, got the others. Doesn't make me a SSf, however, I can't even fly UC.

I'll check with Ace Hobby on the Thunder Tiger parts. Are they the "in name only" guys who bought the Ace radio name? I have been looking for some of those neat molded foam wings, maybe I'll ask if they have any in the back room. Oops, now I've done it, admitted I am both a free flighter and R/Cer and can't do roundy round. Will I get kicked out of Pampa? Hey, I'm just the pit crew.
