I got my Fox 35 back from Larry, and can't wait to run it! Looks great. Really fast turn around.

For general information, what engines does Larry work on? Just Fox .35's? OS? ST? Others? I think I know the answer, but just wanted to get it in B&W. Steve

I second that! Larry recently did a Fox 35 for me also.
It looks great, I just got my extra castor oil, and am planning on starting the breakin soon. It was a very nice Christmas present!
Thanks Larry,
Nick Vanmatre

I started breaking in mines last year. So far I think it is one of my best looking/running motors. I will be puting it on the Oriental that I am building now. He sent me emails as he went throught the process with the motors. Not something I asked for but sure was nice knowing. Thanks again Larry.

You will be further impressed once you put that L&J on plane...

I followed Larry's run in instructions to the letter and have put seven flights on it. BIG difference from the box stock engine I sent him. The "burp" at the figure 8 intersection that was quite pronounced before the mods is now non-existent! It runs cooler and so much smoother... I hope to see Larry with a Hall of Fame plaque some day!

Folks:

I have two Fox 35's that Larry built up. One I bought new from Larry and the other one was bought from another flyer. Both run absolutely great with abundant power. You will love them.

This all started with me "reworking" a Fox using Larry's instructions. That one ran much better than stock, so I just HAD to have Larry do his magic. I figure that with his experience and equipment, he would have to do a better job than I did!
Larry's engines are definitely worth the money. If you have never had a GOOD Fox 35, then you owe it to yourself to pick up one of his.

Hey Bill, bet mine's still better than yours! hahahahahahahaha

plus, I have another one crammed with secret modifications by our mutual friend "W"

seriously, it will be fun to compare my plane with my engine vs yours. With luck I might have mine fixed by Huntersville.

I second that! I sent Larry two Foxes and already got one back. Larry was so nice, he even broke it in for me! I got it back all ready to go in my Noblarf. I beleive it will be a perfect match.

I have used a Brodak 40 in my Noblarf last season and it felt like the engine was too fast too much for the plane. I went to longer lines but line tension got too light. I slowed down the engine to the point where it would stay in deep 4 cycle the entire pattern. It would run out of 4 oz of fuel before the pattern was over. Fox35 and Nobler was a deadly combination 40 years ago, it can be still!

Steven Yampolsky

P.S. This is in no way a knock on B40 engine. It is still my favorite engine. It does EVERYTHING right. I think Noblerarf and B40 may not be the best combo though.

Me thinks you weren't using the right prop, I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the B-40/ARF Nobler combo.

I agree with Bob, a different prop set up is in order.
If the engine gets too much in a deep four cycle, it is no longer producing the power it needs to.
Everyone says to use props to set the flying speed at the rpm that the engine runs "best" at in the particular engine/plane combo.

And the great thing about Larry is he does not make you wait for ever to get your engine back.

Bill and all that have responded:

Thank-you for the kind words about the workmanship and the way the motors run. I hope you enjoy running the motors as much as I do building them.

Woo-hoo! I just got mine back today! It's actually been sitting at the post office since Monday, my neighbor had the delivery notice.

Wow, this engine looks fantastic with the hemi head! Got the stuffer backplate and ST NVA also. Can't wait to get it on the bench. I bet it'll pull my overweight Smoothie with authority.
