Here is a picture of my latest creation dubbed the "Omnium" because it is a mixture of several classic designs. Oriental wing (out of a crash), Ringmaster wing tips, Skylark tail-feathers and the fuselage is a little Oriental, a little Skylark and a little of what fit. Expect it to come out at 38 to 40 oz with a GMA OS 35-S.

Monokote on the wings and movable surfaces, fuselage will be painted like Doug Moon's Saturn. You can see Doug's planes at http://www.angelfire.com/ab2/dougmoon/ I liked the Red and White Saturn when I saw it at our contest last year so I copied it

Except for the fin which will be red Monokote, planning on covering the bare wood with .2oz carbon mat stuck down and filled with Brodak Dope. This is the first full fuselage stunter I have built in over 25 years... Sure hope it fly's....

Looks real good Bob. I really like the lines-looks like more elevator/stab surface area than Oriental and maybe a longer tail moment which would probably be good. Bet it will fly. Will be interesting to see how the carbon mat goes.
I am at least started on another Oriental, foam wing, which will also be powered by a 35S with shaft extension.Thinking about solid blood red,ultrakote and lusterkote over doped silkspan. with black trim lines only. It will not be ready for Glue Dobbers contest but maybe later in the fall.

Yep, you are right the tail is 2 inched longer and the stab/elevator is larger, about 22% of the wing area. Lost a little wing area by going to different tips but not sure how much tips really add to effective wing area anyway.

Hmmmm. On a Belfry Bound the wing tips are around 22 inches wide. Probably not a real good example.

This is the second plane of yours I've seen, and I've loved both of 'em! Your color schemes are great - clean, simple, classic. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the kind words Tim, wished I could take credit but mostly I just copy what other more artistic people have done.

Just loaded the TwistMaster in Snoopy (what my wife calls my white Caravan) and am headed for the Dallas contest.. Fun Fun Fun.....

Don't sell yourself short, Bob! I just went and looked at Doug's Saturn, and you didn't just copy it, you adapted it. You did some different things with the tail and stab/ele, and I can't wait to see the finished product.

You probably won't be flattered to know that the color scheme for my Skyray (the wings, anyway) was an attempt to "copy" your TwistMaster color scheme (I admired it greatly - I hope to build one myself one day!). Didn't quite work out that way, but I learned a lot, which means it wasn't a waste.

Seems like really artistic people, when they set out to "copy" something they like, end up bending it to their own will, and coming up (however unintentionally) with something original anyway. Keep on truckin'! (yes, I've been drinking, if you must know!)
