Actually the link above is to the upcoming Ed Southwick Memorial in Phoenix.

The link to the SW Regionals in Tucson is at:

But there is nothing there but basic info.

The weather has been cool, overcast and what passes for wintery here in Phoenix last couple of days with a tenth of an inch of rain over Friday night/Saturday morning.

I have no news from Tucson, although this weekend should see the maiden voyage of the CACLC aircraft carrier flight deck.

This was not typical Tucson weather! Cool (low 50's), gusty, cloudy, and occasional light rain. We did get through all the planned PA events even though many passed on their 2nd attempts. Winners as I remember them were:

I hope I got all these right. I don't have the combat, racing, or carrier results. Kieth Trostle (in his spare time) also won profile scale with a B-47 and took 2nd in Sport Scale with a "Spirit of St. Louis.

Here is an attempt at some of the photos from the contest. It is obvious that I'm not up to the quality of some of the others that post photos here, but some of the airplanes were interesting so here goes:
1. The Gulfhawks are an interesting story. The Bearcat is Kieth Trostle's ship. The biplane was built by 1 of the local flyer's father way back when. The local flyer is John Calentine who visits this forum as Tucson John.

2. The USA 1 is Jim Hoffman's. If you look carefully, you can see the Flying Clown powered by a FP 15 that Jim flew in OTS.

3. The Pathfinder is one of 3 beautiful airplanes the Pete Peterson brought. The others were his VUM and a Jamison.
