My Cardinal/ OS .46 LA getting finished

I am just putting the last details in place om my OS .46 LA powered Brodak Cardinal.
This is my first plane built in 35 years (except for an ARF Flite Streak), so all things considered i am fairly satisfied with the result. Would not win a beaty contest, but still looks rather decent.I did make a few modifications down the road:
Put in a Windy carbon bellcrank with ready mounted lead outs. Tom Morris tailor made pushrods + 'real' control horns.
Also put on Windys Carbon landing gear. Had to put on a piece of 2" by 3/8" plywood on each side of the fuselage to get it fastened.
Whole fuselage is covered with ultra thin fibreglass glued on with dope. The wing, stab and fuselage are covered with Oracover (silver with blue decorating pattern). I think Oracover is called Ultracover or Utracote in US.
The wingtips are built up and covered as well, as i did not have patience to form the massive wingtip blocks.
It will end up in the 41 to 43 OZ range, depending on wingtip and tailweight needed. Not too bad i think. (the one in the Movin' Up project in Stunt news was 40 Oz).
There is a meter of snow outside my window, so it will be a while before i can fly it.
Had the brand new OS .46 LA running for the first time yesterday in minus 2 celsius and light snow. Ran it a few tanks. As expected it started easily and ran fine.

-2C !!?? That aint nothing! I've seen combat guys fly in colder. I'm making skies for my Nobler ARF. I'll be flying in -20c (-5F) if the wind cooperates. Got my path to the center all cleared of snow and everything. Cant wait to finish the beast.

If i get someone to acompany me , maybe i'll give it a try.
Perhaps take the Flite Streak out for a spin.

OK Greg, The bottom line is wait until the plane is finished and let the weight determine which engine will do the job. Both are great so you really can't go wrong. And as you already know the mounts are the same. Sounds like you are stylin.

I have an ex-golfer friend who says he always shot in the 70s,sometimes when it was even colder.

Well.. since it has been 35 years since my latest flight, maybe 1 meter of snow would not be such a bad idea for 'landing'.
I still have bad dreams about the sight of my beatiful and well flying 'La Donna' twin boomer (Jack Sheeks) after the up rudder line broke while flying over asphalt on the last training session before the Norwegian nationals in 1964. Beeing a schoolboy, i had only that one plane. The Fox 35 also got hit hard. I thought it was lost forever, but my brother has actually restored it and he claims it is in perfect order..
