Next Project: Vivell .09 Diesel finished

Well, here are some shots of the finished engine except for the Gitts cap on the fuel tank which is on order. Too late to set up and run tonight but hopefully that will happen tomorrow night.

Beautiful engine! I hope it runs as good as it looks!

I don't suppose you can get the stuff in England anymore what with the firearm ban (buggers!!) but its Birchwood Casey cold gun blue. They also make an aluminum oops aluminium black, does wonders for those old worn Drone Diesels.

The Vivell is beautiful...and runs...in the basement? where are your earplugs ?...ouch! I used to run engines in the basement as a kid till the exhaust smoke floated upstairs and my ears rang...loved every moment of it. ( Someone say something? My ears still ring...!)

The cylinder finish is classic satin black...what is the crankcase finish? The way it photographed it LOOKS brighter than I would expect a "glass beaded" or "spent sand" surface to look...more coarse, but the facets are very bright...maybe it's the flash on the camera.

The engine's appearance is tops.

Any chance you will do a run of McCoy 60's? the big Doolings...? Forster 99? (My personal favorites)

Great machine work..keep posting your photos.

How do you vary compression? Is there a socket head screw on top? Usually there's a tommy bar.

Don Zipoy used to run his Dyna-Jet in the basement in Minneapolis. Anybody remember Don? We miss him, here in the PNW.

Thank you, diesels aren't as loud as glow or sparkie engines, I only run those in the basement.

The finish on the case is raw sandcast as were the originals. I'm sure the flash magnifies it because it doesn't look as rough in hand. An no, I plan no runs of anything, these are just my toys.

You are correct, there is a setscrew in the head as on the original. I don't really case for it and may make a Tommy bar for it if I decide to fly it.
