What is the longest wing span CL you hav

I found a set of Control Line plans by Berkeley Models 87 1/2 inch wing span Giant scale WWII bomber. Seems like a big airplane to fly CL.

What is the longest wing span CL you have seen or flown?

One of the local hobby shops here in the San Diego area (Discount Hobby Warehouse) used to have a B-36 hanging from the celing that had a WS of at LEAST 8 feet! Maybe more. It had six pushers on the wing (appropriate for a B-36, eh?), I think they said they were .40s

I made some comment about having to tie yourself to a pole in order to fly it, but one of the guys said that it wasn't that bad.

There was also a DC-10 in the same size range, but the B-36 had a much bigger span. Anyone else from around here remember that?

What was the span of Windy's Sweeper? It wouldn't be that big, but it was too big.

Winfred's SWEEPER still exists....hanging on a wall. It is mighty big. I watched one fly (I judged it, actually) and thought that it was just about impossible to make any square maneuver look square.
The wingspan is big...the overall length is looong! Powered by a Big Jim Tiger .60.

Windy reports that the SWEEPER has an 88 inch span, and weighs 132 ounces!!!!! He finished 17th in the 1980 Nats. Imagine, if the Dixon Nostalgia deal was going, it would be eligable!!!! Cookie cutter?

The Sweeper photo shown was taken in 1967 in Bergen, New Jersey at Union High School. I took it and still have the negative.

Longest I built was 81" (9 to 1 AR - that was fun). It had it's moments.

I took a 96" span B-24 to Kiev in 1988. The boxes were like coffins. Transport was a big deal and if it was not for Mike Gretz we would still be there.

I think the Banjock/Heinritz Mega-Streak is 84 or 88 inches. And heavy - around 120 ounces as I recall. The 6" bellcrank turns on dual ball bearings and is made from 3/16" 6061-T6 aluminum, with 1/16 aircraft stainless steel leadouts. Pull tested to 185 lbf.

Flew the TMHK 3-36 in 1967 was 110 inches. Actually I didn't fly it as much as it was an exercise in extreme masochism. No wonder my arms are shot. Dennis

Charlie Bauer (District VI AMA VP) built a turbine-powered U2 that had an enormous wingspan - I forget what Bud said it was, maybe 10 feet. And the lines are only 60 feet...

I think Charlie flies this plane at the Nats, in Scale.
