Going to Tucson for VSC 16? The Rodeway Inn is already booked. I recommend the Ghost Ranch Lodge on Miracle Mile between I-5 and Oracle. We have stayed there many times in the past, and it is a neato place. We enjoy walking through the cemetary across the stret (is that strange, or not?). Prices are less than the major hotels. I live opposite a graveyard and it has graves almost as old as America.

There are also some interesting war graves - many Polish names amongst them.

There is a large Catholic cemetery across the street from the Ghost Ranch in Tucson. My wife and I have fun wandering through and reading all the headstones. Is that morose? Tacky? We did the same thing in England. There is something very settling wandering through old graveyards around sunset. It promotes thoughts about one's own mortality.

Bunhill Field is a treasure. Many great Christian leaders are interred there - like Isaac Watts, John Rippon (a predecessor at Spurgeon's church), Daniel Defoe (Robinson Crusoe), John Bunyan (Pilgrim's Progress), Susanna Wesley, and many others. It is a very peaceful place in a very congested section of London. It was seriously damaged during the Blitz in WWII, so many graves were lost at that time.

Man, by the time I'm "old enough" to go, there won't be a hotel available within 100 miles...

The Super 8 is much newer than the Rodeway. As a semi-local (Phoenix area), I've seen, heard, and experienced enuf bad stuff at the Rodeway, that I choose to not stay there.

I can also recommend the Motel 6 on Ina Road, just East of I-10. It's fairly close to the field and cost me $51/night last year. Don't have their number, but they're on the Motel 6 web site and you can reserve via Internet.

De: Chances of that are slim-to-none...especially this year. We're both working full-time; not yet retired. We'd especially like to be there this year since the festivities will include Bart & Donna's wedding -- apparently immediately after Classic appearance judging on Friday -- but it's not to be. Sure do miss you guys!!!!

Since you're not yet retired, there is another excuse for visiting Tucson in March. As I remember, the word is "vacation". I moved to Tucson after you had moved to Maine, so would like to offer my appreciation for VSC. Come on down. I promise 70 degrees and no Marahia.

Just to let anyone else know, I was able to book a room at the Rodeway for all 4 nights (wed-17th to sat 20th), last friday, using All-Rooms.com.
The price was $53.10 plus a one time $15 booking fee. Not being a trusting type I called the Hotel and double checked that I really had the reservation. They did have a few more rooms then. Several other on lines showed it full.
