Engine runs in the wrong direction.#0 source

O.S. Max 40 FP starts and is running in the wrong direction most of the time. I have to stop it (choke it or remove glow batttery) and restart over and over again until it runs in the correct direction. What is wrong with this engine?

Way too rich. Try pinching off the fuel supply line instead of choking it to stop it. Remember that ABC/ABN/AAC engines have to be run at a rich 2 stroke during break-in. Failure to comply will beat out the rod bearings at minimum. Steve

Yes 100%, it is too rich. I had to learn that with my st.51. It would spit fuel at me, cough and sputter. Then I closed the needle valve from 3 open turns to 1.5 open turns and that things just purred to life.....
