Humongous

Hello to all,
I'm in need of some help with a Humongous I'm building on how to plumb the fuel tank to the engine. I'm trying not to cut away at the sides to be able to attach the fuel line/filter to the tank and then to the engine. Pictures of a finished plane would be great. I have seen external fuel lines, but thought others would have some good ideas. Thanks. [email protected]

I have seen a few Humongous at meets, i have never looked as to how the fuel line is run, or what problems it presents.

You're right,there's not much room between the engine and firewall.I solved it in mine by "hard" plumbing it with copper tubing bent into small radius elbows which allow routing the lines through the fire wall and around or behind the engine.I also installed a stub spar and shear web in front of the main spar,extending to the end of the L.E. sheeting on both sides.I then removed the L.E.and sheeting inside the fuse back to this stub spar.This allows more tank capacity and moving the tank back a little.

I used a RC plastic mount and a modified Brodak deepwedge4 oz tank. I made it into a uniflow with the vents coming out of the top left corner. I notched the fuselage for the uniflow and overflow. I ran the pickup through the center of the wedge into the engine compartment. I’ll find out in about April if it works or not.
