Went to the store to get hinges the other day and found the Klett rack was empty. When I asked the store owner when he might get more he told me he could not. Carl Goldberg has dropped Klett from their product line. If you want to get Klett products you can order them directly from Klett ( http://www.klettplastics.com ).

Get a couple flying buddies (club??) and order in levels of 1000 or more. 1000 is their price break.
Cheaper that way!

This is so disappointing.

What was it, almost a year ago I first broached this subject in the Stunt News "Bad Boy Stunt" column? Okay, I wasn't overly specific, but 2 plus 2 still equals four.

As long as some have missed the initial story, in the early days of Klett stuff not being available, I called PW to see if he knew of the apparent shortage. I did this because he and I both favor the Klett pinned hinges, but he was potentially in a much bigger bind than I, as Paul was in the process of building two more Miss America P-51s. As part of his program entailed all parts being interchangeable among three different models, shifting gears on hinges was not part of the plan.

We agreed to go into action the next day, both of us looking for enough hinges to cover his efforts as well as mine. I pulled in some favors, tracked down Klett Mfg. (Fort Worth, Texas) first.

The funny part came when I called Paul at work. I related to him the minimum bulk buy, 1,000 pieces, and the price. No problem. I then tried to confirm the next step, telling Paul that I would that day be sending the amount required.

"What, you don't want any? I'm not going through this again." was his response.

I countered with the fact I would be sending a check to cover 1,500 hinges. All the while shaking my head over yet another example of his dedication to this event.

The money was sent, the hinges came in just a couple days. We're covered. And you can be as well.
