Saito 40 Exhaust

If you are concerned about knocking the exhaust of a sidemounted Saito 40 in a bad landing and maybe doing some expensive damage this is one answer. Make a little aluminium adaptor which has a metric M9 x 0.75 thread one end with a body (in my case 11mm) which slips into a piece of silicone tube (hold with tie-wrap). The adaptor screws into the swivel ball instead of the supplied silencer. You get some swivel movement to angle the tube. The attached photo and drawing shows all. The rear outlet didn't work too well on mine - the consensus is that there is too much back pressure on this random length of pipe. I just removed the tailpipe with the silicone tube open at the rear - the engine ran just fine.

I have yet to try the tank mounted high like yours, presume
you are getting consistent motor runs.
I have a 11 x 5 black Master prop and with my 4 oz sullivan mounted
the other way, flatter?, I am getting 5.5 6 minutes , fairly rich
setting. Just curious

Motor runs v. consistently tank full to empty. At the end of the tank it's just possible to hear a mild increase of revs - a loop and finish.

I'm still running a bit rich as engine is fairly new - launch at 10,000 tank today lasted 5 minutes.

The engine run seemed much better than any 2S motor used to date.The RPM change from climb through to dive was also better than any of our 2S motors.Well done!.....
