I do like the stand the model is mounted on it has given me some good ideas I am presumeing it is bolted to the engine mounts certainly better than hanging a model from the ceiling and trying to keep it still when spraying.

...... DONT LET THEM GRND YOU DOWN KEEP ON FLYING .......

Neat..kinda resembles the Grondal Nobler or a cross between a tTbird and an Oriental.

Do you know when the Grondal Nobler was design. I believe it won the worlds once or twice.I`m not positive about this.Just wondering mine was done in 1963.

If memory serves, I believe Louis Grondal won the FAI with his "Grondal Nobler" in 1960 and 1962. He died in 1998 from cancer. I believe that later in life he became an accomplished full scale glider pilot.

Although I can neither read nor comprehend Swedish, there is an outline of the Grondal Nobler that is clear enough to get an idea of what the ship looked like. Also, there is a neat set of plans for a P-51...

On another note, I hope that some day we can do Stunt News using similar technology. The quality, crispness, and transportability of the .pdf format would be most handy.

I had the privilege to speak with Mr. Grondal a few times.
The "Grondal Nobler" was actually 2 airplanes. The one that the Belgian plans are available for was referred to in the press as the "AMA special".
He flew a similar plane, except for the landing gear, for the FAI pattern, then the second one for the AMA pattern which was used for the final round of the World's.
I am building the AMA special (even had laser ribs cut for it) and it will have the original paint scheme. He told me he built it from a Top Flite "green box" kit. And from the drawings, that is apparent.
He was World Champion for the first two, '60 and '62. He moved to the USA in 1965, and he was a full scale glider competitior.
Very nice gentleman, and unaware at the time that, "anyone remembered his WC's".

That`s just what I did. I had a green box Nobler, And the first version of the Heinz had a turtle deck,and Nobler momments. The second version is the one I just finished was also a nobler wing,but didn`t have the turtle deck.Wing tips and flaps were from the T-Bird shape which made the wing extend to 56 in. span. And a longer nose momment.

I LIKE the Heinz!!!
The Grondal version had almost the same "outlines. But the top block starts about 1" high at the fin, and tapers to about 3/8 at the nose. Definite forward slant. Tips are very similar to yours.

I am pretty sure that it is one of Byron Barker's (C.F. Slattery) stands. I have one that I did a review of when I wrote the Products Column in STUNT NEWS. It does bolt to the mounts and swivels 360*.
