Well, the forecasters got it right! Saturday was really tough weather- 4 inches snow- ice on bridges- didn't look like good prospects but now I'm sporting a sunburned face! The only dry place was the flying circles- surrounded by mud. We had a light turnout- but better than expected. Light winds, mostly North, clear and sunny, warmed up to 52 degrees. The neat thing was the way everyone came together to ease the burden of the CD, ED, judges and foremostly- tabulator Rachel Wilson. Runners, or more correctly, "sloshers", kept things moving smoothly. George Hamby designed styrofoam sides for the pavillion to block the North wind, installed by Dave Ek and Mike Mizelle. We added a catalytic heater to keep hands warm, Linda Bob brought goodies as did many others, George cooked two hams so we wouldn't starve. FliteStreak Stunt proved popular and P40 showed some very good flying. Carrier was a bust as there was too much water to float the USS Fogarty! Some nice trophies (left over from last year's contest which was weathered out) were handed out.
