How much prop clearance do you allow for on your tricycle gear type planes? for flying from grass? for flying from hard surface?

I like to have mine about one and a half inches.Any higher than this, they look funny on the pavement. This still lets you get out of the grass.

Be sure angle of take off is not up. Try to make it level or just a pinch down. Too much down and when you rotate it will want to jump into the air. Make sure the main gear is close to the c\g.But behind the c\g.When you push the tail down it will just fall down on the nose gear. Of course this is when all assembled and painted. Hope this helps.
