Prop article

The current Sport Aviation (published by the EAA) has an interesting article on propellors and how to measure pitch and select the best prop, plus the formulae for calculating speed from a pitch or which pitch to achieve a certain speed. It explains nominal pitch vs effective pitch. I realize it is aimed at full size homebuilders, but it gives a nice perspective on the whole issue/problem of measuring pitch, selecting airfoils and selecting props.
