UK source for GRW tanks?

Hi All,
I've been trying get hold of a GRW chicken hopper tank in the UK and so far had no luck. PS Aero who are the Brodak distributors here don't seem to be having any luck.

Does anyone know of a good source here, or in the US that will ship to the UK for GRW tanks?

Incidentally, I can't find anyone who stocks DirtyDan's 3.25oz chicken hopper. I take it the 3.75oz one will fit in the nose of a std Streak?

Jonathan, the 3.75 ounce will not fit.

When I was at the Brodak contest last year the hobby shop had the GRW chicken hoppers in stock and they are listed in the Brodak catalogue. Did something change?

Hmmm...

I get my GRW chicken-hopper tanks from SIG Mfg., they have never been out of stock. Surely SIG products, and the goods they distribute, are available in the U.K., even if not next week.

My guess would be the 3.75-ounce unit will in fact fit the ARF Flite Streak, although it is possible it would not drop in on a model which has been fitted with another tank.

My most recent ARF FS has, of course, a 3.25-ounce GRW tank, but I moved the motor back a lot--about 1/2", even had to cut into the fuselage sheeting--and the tank fits with no problem, even if there is not much room to spare.

Unfortunately, 3.75 ounces is quite the fuel load if using a 20 or 25.

Second thoughts: If all I had was a 3.75-ounce tank to work with, they can be shortened fairly easily. I have even considered doing a chop job on my 3.25-ounce units, just ran out of motivation.

Incidentally, the motor--O.S. 25FP--is shoved back in my model simply because I was determined to use the stock muffler, did not want to add lead to the tail.

I just special order directly from GRW. Art has made me 2.0 oz as well as 2.25 oz tanks for the same price as the 3.25 oz.

2.0 oz seems to be about the smallest that is practable for him to make. The main tank isn't much wider than the hopper itself.

Art? Art who? I had heard there is a couple chicks making these tanks for some income on the side.

In any case, a 2-ounce tank on any reasonably-powered ARF Flite Streak is probably too small.

Art Huskey owns and operates GRW.(has for the last three years) He does have some people work for him as well. He will custom make any size I want, and that was the point I was trying to make. I wasn't suggesting any particular size for any particular plane. I wouldn't begin to suggest to you what size tank to put on your Flight Streak.

Art is a great guy who donates some of his fine tanks to the Tulsa Gluedobbers every year. Contact him at 903-986-8873.
I think he is currently recovering from some sort of hand injury so he may be backed up on his orders.

Doesn't the the ARF have a longer nose than a Top Flight Streak? I was pretty sure I tried to fit the 3.75 on my Streak when I first built it and ended up with a 3.25.

I have two of the 3.75 tanks and have not found a use for them. Too small for a stunt ship and too big for my Streak. Robbed the hopper off one to build a smaller tank when I was trying to get my Saito 30 dialed in. Didn't work as well as a clunk on the 4S but we all know that now..
