Is there a way to save all the achive messages in one easy step? There is a truckload of very good info I would like to save. Thanks for help.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I think I understand what you are trying to do. When I come across an important bit of information I copy and paste it into a Word document. I have 15 or 20 documents where I stash items of interest on specific subjects. One is for OS .20/.25 engine set-ups, another for flapless stunter info, etc., etc. I find this method is very efficient. Only significant stuff is saved and it is automatically organized in a way that makes future searches fast and easy.

You may (or not) know about the internal SSW bookmark system? If not, look for it in the top left corner of any thread page. Leonard and Bob do their best to preserve the old stuff for archives, but with computers, stuff sometimes happens, and data is lost. I haven't been using it very long, but do have some good stuff bookmarked. Other threads, I've copied and pasted into Word files, saved the graphics, etc. Steve

It can be done, but it is not easy.

When we were running a previous version of the board software, I did this for Ed Culver and a couple of others. All the code to do it was something I had to write was custom/reverse engineered based on the header information and other stuff in the various files. The conversion process replaced the formating characters, parsed out the messages into different fields, and then imported into a SQL database. I could then extract from there into Excel or some other format. Since that time, Len has upgraded the software and, of course, the header information in the files is now signifigantly different, making the code useless.

I had also hoped on getting Isky's archives and converting them into the format used by the board. It would have been nice to have had some of that good information available on a read only basis. Unfortunatley, I never got a clean enough copy of Isky's archives to have something workable.

Perhaps in the future some time I can write a new set of code to do an export.

I don't know what you are really asking for here. We could do a batch file for you off of the server, but then you would need the software to run it. Each thread and each response is an individual file that the program assembles. But you need something to read it.

One thing you can do is click on them one at a time and then at the top there is a link that says "printer friendly copy". Click on that and then copy and paste to your word file.

But, no, we don't have a way to display all threads at once in one big string.
