How much fuel does the .15LA really need to get through the whole pattern? 2.5oz.? 3oz.? More?

Less.....try 2.0 ounces, uniflow. Unless you are running it real, real rich you'll be okay.

So, just to be sure I understand correctly, a 2oz. clunk tank should provide enough run time to complete the pattern?

In contrast, how much fuel would a Fox .15x on an Acromaster need to complete the pattern; more or less than the 15LA will need?

Steve...two things enter...size of the plane and if you can get all of the fuel out.

A 2 oz. clunk tank is tough, because the fuel line is usually not flexable enough to do the trick. MOST .15/.19 sized planes will use about 2 oz. to do the pattern, especially if they are run in a soft 2 cycle.

Plane is going to be one of my own design, around a 40" span, about 276" sq. (including flaps) with a projected weight around 25oz. Airfoil similar to the bigger, .60-size ships (20% root @ 30% chord, 23% tip @ 25% chord) with the tail surfaces (stab & elev.) the same outline as the wing, just scaled down 50% for 25% of wing area. Fuse is built up. Which brings up the main point of my question.

I need to make sure I have enough room in the fuse for the tank. The narrowest that I can make the fuse is about 1.75" (3/8" sq. motor mounts spaced 1" apart for the engine). Most of the tanks in the 3 oz. range are about 1.75" to maybe 2" wide. I can build the fuse wider, if necessary, but that would only add weight that I don't need. I'm basically trying to find the smallest tank possible that will still provide enough fuel for the pattern for this engine (set up stock, btw). Plastic clunk or metal, it doesn't matter much right now. Just trying to determine how wide to build the fuse.

On a related note, does anyone offer a lightweight muffler (tongue or tube) for the .15LA? If so, how much?

I have a TT.15 w/ stock muffler and venturi in a 26 ounce Lightning Streak derivative. It uses an APC 7-4 and Powermaster 25% nitro (castor added to make 22% total lube)and the run is a solid two-stroke. Two ounces is almost enough to do a complete pattern- just ask Designman (aka Larry Renger). . .
Since the TT and the OS FP and LA series are similar, I'd recommend 2.5 ounces minimum.
