I need help from Macintosh users!

Help! I need sombody
Help! Not just anybody...

Beatles aside, I need help from Macintosh users. I do not have access to a Macintosh and would like to make sure PAMPA website is accessible from the most computers and operating systems.

Can you please visit www.control-line.org and let me know if you get any errors or not. Please email me at [email protected] or post it on this forum. Here's what I'm looking for:

1) Mac type(optional)
2) Operating System(optional)
3) Internet browser name and version(optional)
4) Errors: yes/no. If no, then what kind of error it is.

Working for me.

Running Mac OSX.3.2, browser is Safari 1.2.

After reading Brett's post, I too am not seeing the pictures at the top---I didn't realize that they were even there!

Also a small detail, but I am also not having my browser remember the login, even though I checked the "remember" box.

But when you drag across the nav bar you get a lot of errors like:

Not surprisingly, I get virtually identical results with Mozilla FireFox

For reference, MSIE (real thing, 5.22 5010.1) doesn't really work right, either:

Not to be a nudge but this pretty well expends the options unless one does like Alan and upgrade to Safari 1.2 (only possible if you buy 10.3x).

This is a very comprehensive report! Wow!

One thing I noticed is that the non popup version of the menu inside of IE 5. It is as intended. Instead of dropping a dynamic menu, you need to click on a link to see menus below it. This is the workaround I was talking about for the older browsers.

The placing of the bar in safari(top of the page and no picture is a valid issue though.

Well, not all that comprehensive - these are just the very common browsers. I haven't tried Opera, iCab, or the latest evolution of Cyberdog (which is remarkably still being kept alive by the fringies!)

Well, that's perfectly fine. But in Netscape/Mozilla, merely moving the mouse over the top of the menu items (without clicking) cause them to "pop up" and there are a bunch of error messages associated with that.

I might also note that there are no updates planned for MSIE for the Mac, as Safari is the default browser. So it is what it is.

I just emphasize that these appear to be classic "non-standard microsoft extensions" issues. If it worked without the error messages in Netscape/Mozilla, I would say just don't worry about Safari 1.0, since it's dead-ended with the introduction of Panther (OS 10.3x) and 1.2 works.

I see a pattern forming - the site sends "modern Java" for Safari 1.0 v85, but it has a bug that makes it not work (and was fixed in 1.2). It sends "modern Java" for Netscape/Mozilla 7.1/Firefox but it works and gives Java error messages due to a bug. It sends old-style Java to MSIE 5.0 and 5.22, Netscape 4.79, and Opera 6.0 (probably unnecessarily in the case of Opera (if I have time I'll edit the user-agent to fake it to be Netscape 7.1 and see)) and this works. Alan reports Safari 1.2 works.

So, maybe the workaround is to add Netscape/Mozilla for PPC and Safari 1.0 to the "old style" list, and leave Safari 1.2 (v whatever) in the "modern" list. bb

Oy Vey!/Mama Mia! - nav bar still generated error messages when mouse crosses over items - and now items have very interesting but hard-to-interpret runes.

For reference, MSIE 5.22 is unchanged since this morning - functional but picture banner misaligned.
