Is there a web page where I can go and read the specs on a McCoy 35 engine?

What is the difference between the McCoy 35 Red Head and the McCoy 35 Blue Head? Are the parts interchangeable?

Why do some of the McCoy 35 Red and Blue have lighting bolts on the side?

My McCoy 35 cylinder wall has a tape of .002" from bottom to top. Diameter at the top is .750" and at the bottom its .752" is this correct or is this engine ware? Piston diameter is .750".

The Blue Head was used to distinguish the R/C version.
Other than a modification to the case to mount the carb on the R/C version, they are all the same. ie: a lighting bolt RH and a BH will interchange parts. I just built a 40 out of a Blue Head LB and a RH chrome case. Works fine.

Just one thing to add to Bill's replay the Blue Head Mc Coy's had a bushed con rod. When I was running the McCoy's we always used the Bule Head rod on a rebuild.

Gary: The Blue Heads simply were the RC version of the Red Head.

The Lightning Bolt models were the last of the line, in the late '60s (the next batch were the Series 21 motors, with the finned, heavy cases). The "Bolts" have improved metallury in places, such as a bronze front bearing. The quality putatively was better than what proceeded. Bolt McCoys don't necessarily run better vs non-Bolts, but they may last longer.

Bolt or no bolt, the Redhead/Bluehead to get is the 40. Bolt 40 is preferred, because the non-bolt has fron lugs that are open at the ends, and they break easily (how do I know this?)

If you get a good Redhead 19/29/35/40, treat it well. Feed it at least 25% oil, majority castor. They make excellent baffle stunt/sport mills, and will 4-2-4 with the best of Foxes. And, often, out rpm them into the bargain.
