Ok I got mine yesterday and put it together today. It needed outboard weight and my elevators had an annoying click around neutral that needed to be fixed. Don't like the hinge arrangement on the elevator at all.
But the biggest thing was the motor. It is set up with a sport plug and the black flexible prop. This is not the best set up for getting the most out of the motor. I haven't run mine yet but I have run these motors before and changed the plug to a high compression with 3 gaskets and got rid of the prop. I have a good stash of the grey Cox 5/3 so thats what is on mine. A Tornado 5/3 would do you a lot better then the prop that comes with the plane. The fuel that I use is Sig 35% Forget about 15% nitro for a Cox.You guys are saying that you have lots of time and the tank seems to agree with you. Incidentally my tank was fine. Properly run with a 5/3 you can get to 17K+ on a good one with a good prop. I'll take a few APC 5.3X3 with me to try also. If this was a Norvel I'd have the thing pressurized as I have no problem with fast lap times. Lines will be 40 foot of 008. I never run in Cox motors slow but just breaking into a steady 2 cycle.Quality on these motors is not as tight as the older ones so I basically use them and replace as needed.
E Bay has them for as little as $6.00. Don't forget to use your reset tool after a few good runs.
