My new Twister

Hi all,

Here's a pic of my newest plane - a Twister.

I wanted to find a profile plane which was easy to build so I could learn the pattern and the Twister fits the bill After reading a lot of posts, I've powered it with a Thunder Tiger GP .25 - first flight was today on 60' lines, 10:4 Zinger prop and a clunk tank. Flies great, very happy with this plane! (thanx Brett for the info on this site).

You're quite welcome. That airplane looks very sharp - any more or bigger pictures?

Thanks for the comments Brett .... re pics - was trying to keep them small so I could upload them (had to get the wife to help LOL).... here's some more - hope they come thru ok.

Looks great. I sure like the transparent finish. Always thought those looked cool.

Hey, I too like the see-thru Mono; it's lighter than regular mono by some amount (not sure how much though) but has a unique quality to it on sunny days. This one came out right at 39 ozs with the OS .40FP mounted. It has served me well over the last 2 years, even been to the Nats in July '02 and gotten some hardware there! Still like it, and may even recover it now for my son to use.

Nice! Wish I had one just like it sittin' in my truck tomorrow morning!! And I wish it would stop blowing like crazy....

I'm with Brett, howza 'bout a picture that's big enough to discern the details? (Ok, maybe I just want to drool a little....)

What did you cover it with? Did you paint or cover the fuselage? What about the trim and canopy?

And now for the really nosy question: Whadja use for hinges? (Can you tell where I've been having problems...?)

Hi Dave,

Hopefully the larger pics have come thru now

For covering I used Solar Film Polyspan on the wings and stab. For the fuse and trim I used coloured tissue (a mixture of new and old technology ). I may apply some stripes to the wings, but wanted to keep the weight down.

Now for the hinges... pin plastic hinges on flaps and string reinforced tape on elevator. The model was built from a kit but I used quarter sheet for the elevator. The good thing with these hinges is that they will last the life of the model, are easy to apply and seal the hinge gap on the elevator totally.

Plane weighs 38oz which I think is ok from the kit wood.

Looks very nice, always loved those see-through coverings. Look so pretty on those bright sunny afternoons.

Very Sharp! 38 oz. seems good for a kit. Stock TT 25 and muffler, right?

Great Airplane!
I've got a handful of twisters and love them all
Here is one I rebuilt and was trimming out yesterday
This one has a OS FP40 With black monokote and blue lustercoat paint
