I'll be there. If you're there that'll be two of us. You can launch my plane and I'll launch yours. Kris can judge. At least I'll get second place. If Rich McConnell shows up, we'll have some entertainment too.

What about Saturday? Actually, we may end up cancelling/delaying because The Dreaded will have a tough time getting across the border due to the guards searching each vehicle. Lines are said to be miles long. CD Dave is grounded in Iowa and may have trouble getting home. Please contact Dave, PW, Howard or myself if you have any thoughts on cancelling. Yes.....It will be run.....But there may be a few problems.
1) Mike Potter checked with security there and there is no problem with us being there.
2) Our CD (Dave Gardner) is stuck in Iowa. Don't know if he will be back in time.
3) Awards: Dave was handling this and they had not arrived as of yesterday.
4) The Canadian group is not planning on coming because of the problems at the border.
But, we do have an alternate CD (Howard Rush) and we could whip up some computer generated awards if necessary.
We will run this contest.

Well, I suspect I'll be there at least on Sunday. This has been a hard week. First our country is attacked and the aftermath and potential for further hostilities has been difficult for us all. My company, not known for sensitivity or perception, decided that this would be a good time to close the program I manage and lay everyone off (23 people), a victim of the recent County RSN funding cutbacks. My car was hit in a parking lot and is a total. I wasnt' even there. My insurance company is... well you get the idea.
Still, I'm going to try to be there Sunday, at least.

Aw, shucks, fellas! It was good for all of us to visit and fly airplanes and eat donuts after this weeks tragedies. Congrats to Howard for a well deserved 1st in Expert. Scott flew well with his "SuckyBus", but not quite good enuf. It was great to have Pete's Peterson (Utah/Stunt) and Tribe (G.B./Combat & Carrier) come and enter our little contest, and sad that The Dreaded Canadian Stunt Team couldn't all come. Still, Keith Varley represented them well with a very close 2nd in Advanced. We missed Randy, but after the week he had, I wouldn't have let him fly anyway, for his own good

Strangely, I feel both better and worse. I had gotten over the weeks events (as well as could be expected) and planned to be there today, but (as if the rest of the week wasn't bad enough) I fell while doing some landscape work yesterday. Rock walls are really quite unforgiving. Twisted my ankle pretty well. Sucker is swollen up pretty well. Same ankle I broke badly in college. Man, what a week! Think I'll just go into hybernation for the winter. Last night, I thought I had pulled a Dirty Dan, but the doc says it's just a bad sprain.Ice and Advil has been my day. And vegging in front of the tube.
Man, don't let me near a plane for awhile.

Randy...AS you WERE an OLD HIGH JUMPER why didn't you jump out of the way? Someone told me a HORSE STEPED on your foot.
Missed you at the contest.
I was stepping down off the lower level of wall (this thing runs in tiers up about 15 feet) and I just caught the side of my shoe on some rock awaiting placement. Rolled my ankle right over. The foot had what could be called substantial damage while I was in college, ie, 7 borken bones, some in several places, a ton of ligiment and some nerve damage, torn muscles, the works. Had 2 surgeries and about a year of physical therapy on and off. Heck, I'm just glad I can walk on it at all. There was a time this was in considerable doubt. Still have a couple of pins in it. That's why I went to the urgent care clinic on Saturday. Was afraid I had messed up one of the pins. The origianl orthopedic surgeon that worked on it was right, though. He said in about 20 years I'd probably have some noticable arthritis in it. Well, he was righ, it's sure "noticable". One thing the fall did do. I suspect that some very old adhesions are now, uh, loosened up.
I wasn't going anywhere on Sunday. It's still pretty swollen, but the doc assures me it will get better eventually.
I should be at the Fall Follies if I don't decide to head to the Golden State Stunt Champs. Should have a new plane by then.
