Norvel 25

With the elimination of the C/L versions of the OS 25 FP and the Magnum 25 GP, the introduction of a new 25 anywhere is of interest. I do not profess to be particularly well informed, but in the 25 size range it seems that our choices for new engines are limited to the Fox 25's (bushing and BB) and the TT 25. Norvel recently introduced a 25 for R/C. Has anyone heard any rumors or announcements that Norvel might also introduce a C/L version of this engine? Thanks.

I was letting this one simmer on the back burner here while most of the discussion back and forth occurred at RCO, where I've no current intention to go to the trouble of re-registering.

But it struck me that there seems to be an assumption in the way that the thread-starting message is worded to the effect that Thunder Tiger had continued to ship engines with plain venturi inserts rather than throttles. AFAIK, only Fox ships any 25's that way. There are TT parts to adapt some of their their engines to C-L, and the TCI people will pull throttles off to ship engines with venturis, but the TT box will still show that your engine started life as an RC item.

Magnum doesn't have parts to make C-L engines from their products, but given the current decent quality, and the use of true chrome instead of nickel, they are the real bargains right now. The only minor fly in that tube of ointment is that their engines tend toward the heavy side by an ounce or so when compared to the source patterns (OS Max).

I have heard other people mention the Norvel 25, but have not seen one. Actually, except for the Fox 25, there are no CL versions of any .25 available any more since TT discontinued the CL version of theirs as well. But venturis can be made for any engine, and even the Fox 25 runs much better if the venturi is replaced with a properly sized venturi with the needle placed in the "normal" location. The Fox, apparently, is a good engine for combat, and the TT .25 is a carbon copy of the FP so fits and runs the same. If you like the FP .25, just remember the TT .25 and use it. Better quality and cheaper at the moment. Not a bad combination.
