One of the real treats at yesterday's appearance judging was Jack Sheek's Stuka. Has gull wing and moveable flaps. Design dates to 1961 I think. These pictures don't do it justice. Cy will have some really good ones I'm sure.

I checked with Jack. It is in fact a 1963 design, but this is a new airplane built last year. Jack laughed about how he liked to push the envelope of I beam design. This, as well as his Corsair, use full I beam construction with the gull built into the spar. I keep trying to imagine what the jig for this airplane must have looked like.

This is a copy of 1963 version with the after section thickened in order to stop any twisting. The 63 version looked much longer as it was skinny in the rear. Thank you for the compliments, I like it to.I didn't fly it at VSC as it had not been trimed out yet. Maybe next time. Jack Sheeks

Flying Models Plans Online List (p.13) shows a Jack Sheeks STUKA stunter published in '70. The masters for the earlier one were probably destroyed in the fire that wiped out the earlier plans service warehouse. This one is real close to being Classic Legal, so maybe Sir Sheeks will verify. Jack published articles on the Stuka in Flying Models August 1963 and July 1970. I have scanned both set of plans and will post them on the PAMPA website under VSC 2004
