Please Help The Children

We are putting on an air show this year at the Lucas KS Slope glider race in May. We put on an air show last year and it was a huge hit, but we didn't get the crowd involved. Lucky for us, we had WC (aka Mr.Clean) (aka William Crane) put on a control line demonstration which went quite well. The city has asked us to put on another show this year and we decided to get as many people involved as possible. What we are considering is haveing 4 control line circles for kids and adults to try their hand at flying. We're also considering the AMA's Delta Dart program on an alternate night.

Here's where I need your help. We've come across a nearly indestructable 1/2A size plane that can be built for less than $10, however, we 4 Baby Bee engines, 4 bellcranks and 4 handles. If some of you would be interested in donating any or all of these items, we would surely appreciate it. If you need the engines returned, we'll gladly return them. I know beggars can't be choosy but we don't want any paper weights, but decent running engines and useable hardware.

When the event is over, we'll provide photos of some of the flyers enjoying their day in the sun.

Give me your address. I can send you some bellcranks and dacron lines from Bill Osborne's Estate.
If you need 1/2A handle, they can be easily made from a sheet of 1/8" plywood on a jig saw. I'll see if I can find some extra Cox handles for you.

At one time Cox had a program where they would provide you with PT-19 planes and spare parts for this type of event at no cost. Would be worth a call to see if they would be interested in helping.

I've got a couple of the small plastic C*x handles and spools of dacron from the RTF Star Wars planes I bought for the engines. I'll put them in the mail if you provide the address.

Mike, I don't see as it would hurt any. The plane we had settled on using was the Manwin trainer with the CG a bit forward and the elevator controls trimmed down. I have an almost endless supply of Coro and parts that make mass construction of these purty easy.

In the end, I'd like to get the 4 of us who will be training in a 4 up race, just to get the crowd going. Maybe put a little streamer on behind too? In any case, all help would be appreciated. There were maybe a couple hundred last year wathcing, I don't know how many we will have. Then again the weather last year was dreadfull. I don't know why, but the constant blather of raindrops on the top of the tent made parts of me kick into high gear. Not the time to be caught without an extra, gallon sized can, if ya know what I mean. Musta made 20 trips a night. I think that the weather held down attendance a bit.

Thanks Mr's Lee and Wilk for their donations. Yes we would like to receive 2 of the Plastic Fantastic. It looks like we only need 4 starter springs for COX Baby Bee 049's and we have what we need. Thanks in advance to anyone who can ship those to us for use in the airshow. I'm looking forward to the Plastic Fantastic as I haven't seen them yet.
