The numbers of "locals" who are within same-day commuting range of the site at Silver Bell Park and are also regular visitors to the CL online world isn't large. A far greater number of attendees are either still on their ways home, or sleeping late to recover! Give 'em another day; also consider that for a huge percentage, it isn't the highest scores in patterns that really matters about this event. I never knew who was winning while I was there, nor worried much about who won what, when I went, myself.

Sunday was very windy (20 mph with gusts to 30) so a lot of people scratched. Unfortunately there were 3 major crashes. I believe Billy had the only score above 500 for the day.

Not the greatest of photos but here's the pics of the Classic scoreboards. I think the three ships that were lost in Sunday's winds were Ray Firkin's Electra, Frank McMillan's Vulcan, and a Barnstormer(?)didn't get the flyer's name. (S Holt reports below that it was a Tempest. I wasn't watching till I saw the engine come flying out of the circle!)

The third crash was Jeff Welliver's beautiful Tempest. This was the airplane that is shown on the RSM website to illustrate the model. All three losses were beatiful models and a real loss.

Tom Martin brought his wind meter along and was measuring gusts up to 30. On previous days there was usually someone putting in a practice flight before sunrise. No one got in the air Sunday untill Marvin Denny put up the first official flight. At 7:30 there were only 2 or 3 airplanes sitting in the pits!
