Build a Pink one.......................

She said, and I will fly it....so I did.

She being my girlfriend.......has put up with so much of my building and mess that I am surprised that she is interested in flying at all, but she is.....and I encorouge that.

So when she said she would fly a pink airplane, I got to work and built the Tomohawk in the pic.....UGLY in my opinion, but she loves it........covered in monocote, powered by OS 25 FP-s.....should do the trick nicely..

Its MAIDEN flight will be this weekend.....sorry for the pun...will post how she got on.

Heck, I'm looking to go up for the first time in 7 years, and she says "no". Rats!

My youngest daughter is 12 and she has gone to the flying field with me several times to launch. She has also flown my old beat up Flite Streak a few times and has flown my sons Flite Streak ARF but she never really acted all that interested. The other day I was working on my Time Machine and she walked into the garage and said, " Dad when are we going to build that kit for me?" She pointed to a Skyray 35 kit sitting on the shelf and said, "I want it to be pink and purple." I told her that if we built it and covered it with pink and purple Monokote she had to fly it and she promised that she would. She even said that she wanted to fly in Beginner Junior Stunt at the NATS this year. Our plan is to build it this weekend and use an LA 25 for the power.

I dated a girl back in the fifties; our first date was a high school dance and our second was the C/L flying field. She became my pit
crew (I even have 8mm film of us flying off a frozen lake). We have now been married 44 years and no, she no longer pits for me but she knows the smell of dope, doesn't brother me when I am in the shop, doesn't question the arrival of large boxes at the front door and reframes from making plans for Saturdays during the flying season.

I remember Charlie Bruce and his wife Kay have been married for eons. She never once went flying with us (except the NATs and a FF contest) that I can recall, but she did one day bring home a pink Super Clown with a GH Torp .35 in it that she got at a local garage sale for $10 (1968). It was promptly christened "Pink Elephant" by CB. She was a cool lady.

I concur. When I returned to control line flying about eight years ago, my then girlfriend found my hobby "entertaining" and even flew a cox PT-19 trainer with me and a friend who I was teaching to fly. She went so far with the ruse as to mention that she and her brother had flown model rockets as children. This women was passing muster! One day she came home with an Estes starter rocket set. Man we were impressed. Yes she actually built a rocket and flew the thing before our eyes. Man this was the women for me! Then we got married. My hobby grew in size. I managed to talk her out of the bonus room in our new house but was clever enough to leave her some "some room" for her scrapbooking hobby. I found a group of guys who flew control line. We flew every Sunday. She came to the flying field once and then never again. I here she and her new boyfriend are doing well.

Incidently, my thirteen year old daughter is about to solo with her PINK P-51 profile that I scratch built with Norvel .061 power. I was trying to talk her into a traditional color but she insisted. Is there something to be learned from this? My daughter is from the first marriage. I am lucky enough to be a single father. We enjoy control line flying.

Richard Simmons(The excercise guy) used to claim on some talk shows that he used a pink P-51 to travel cross country in. I never saw or heard of anyone seeing it, but you may have a sort of scale paint job there and not know it!
