Marietta Georgia contest rescheduled

I wanted to let everyone know that while speaking with Tom Dixon today he informed me that the contest that was canceled due to the 911 attacks, has been set for November 10th and 11th. The circles will open for practice on Friday after lunch. Hope loads of people can attend this one. BAD ANDY

This contest is held at the LOCKHEED MARTIN base on asphalt parking lots. Combat want fly to well here. But there is a speedlimit contest in NC next month in Huntersville-(Charolette). Talk to you later, BAD ANDY

I will be visting Atlanta and plan to take my grandnephews to see it.

We are looking forward to it. I learned to fly control line at Fort MacPherson at the age of 13 with a Testors TC2 and O&R 23 in 1948. Still building CL planes.

New Era(crashed trying to learn to fly), TC2, Maverick, Kingpin, Warrior, Lil Bandit, Flying Clown-then on into the Kenhi/Sterling /Goldberg/etc.'50s,60s,70s,80s,90s,00s. One day I will learn to do a square loop!

What is the schedule.. when are they flying what? I have to be in Orlando on the 12th and will be driving right through GA. Might be able to take a detour

Saturday events will be OTS,Classic&Profile.Tom said we were going to start at 10:30 or 11:00AM instead of the usual 12noon,due shorter days.The four PAMPA classes will start at 9AM on Sunday,hope you can come by.

We are going to a trade show in Orlando and I will have the van loaded with equipment, hopefully I will have room for an airplane and can talk the wife into leaving a couple of days early

Directions: Go I75 North through Atlanta to the Delk Rd, Cobb Dr turnoff. Go left at the light Delk becomes Cobb Rd SE. Follow Cobb until it goes up a small hill and around a slight left turn. Go about another 1/4 mile and you are there. There will be two traffic lights where you can turn into the Lockheed Martin parking lot flying site on the left side of the road. See you there!

Thanks Jim, Dale also sent directions so between the two I am sure I can find it. Just look for a big blue and white Ringmaster with a tall skinny old f**t attached and that will be me.

I did see you at the Dallas Contest; however, we were flying different events on different circles so I didn't have any chance to talk with you. I did see the Twistmaster however - neat plane.

I am real bad about relating people I meet on-line to the same people I meet in person. I think I met Jim Phillips from OK City 3 times before I realized which Jim he was

Saturday, 11/10/01, was the most perfect day I have ever seen for flying OTS, Classic, and Profile Stunt. Superb flying. The only accident that I saw was a broken prop when a wheel stuck in a wheel pant on a takeoff. The airplanes were all excellently constructed and flown with real professional expertise, Bob Reeves Twistmaster was beautifully constructed and finished and I really enjoyed watching him fly the pattern with it.

The gentlemen competing were very friendly and very patient in responding to my many questions about their engines, designs and finishes (is that really silkspan and dope?)(How do you repair Lustre Cote over dope?)etc.

Just wish I could have brought a plane down on the Delta Flight from Dulles.

you are in for a treat!They are really a fine MAC.

Don, We all had a good time in GA. Saturday was beautiful wasnt it. Yes that accident on Saturday was mine and I hated it for Marshall Busby because it was his profile I was trying to get trimmed out. I had a big old bounce on the landing of my first official flight which jammed some small pebbles trapped between the wheels and pants. I tried to put up a practice and trim flight and upon release she went into a nose down roll for almost a full circle. Nothing was left of the prop and had to make a hard sprint to stop the shaft run. We got everything taken care of and the plane ( ROAD KILL) took 1st in profile for me and Marshall took 1st in beginner on Sunday with the same plane. We all had a blast at the contest and we even had some fun on Sunday when the big blow came into town. Thats another story..... Take care, BAD ANDY
